When you're in the business of Japanese Classic cars, its really surprising to find something this modern. Freshly designed for 1998, this Land Cruiser boasts a durable powertrain, loads of bells and whistles, a cavernous cabin, and plenty of safety features. As well as it drives, this one looks just as good, finished in a menacing one-off Beretta Black. This drop-dead gorgeous rig is set off by bronze 17" alloys, LED taillamps, an OEM rear spoiler, factory rainguards, and a blacked-out grille. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use, the paint is in good shape and this recently serviced rig is turn-key ready to rock. Sporting 111k verified/documented miles, the mileage is enthralling too, and competitive against available stateside options. Luxurious, capable, and easy to service, this Japanese Classic is a practical choice and is highly collectible, too.
The cabin is roomy, refined, and logically laid out. The driver has a strong command of the road thanks to the tall ride height, and the dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. Dual SRS airbags are standard and add some peace of mind for those who may be safety conscious. An aftermarket touchscreen audio system works like a charm and supplies the cabin with crisp and clear tunes as required. Below is a simple-to-use digital climate control system. Cold A/C can be pumped through the cabin this summer and heat for the winter later in the year. If more natural ventilation is your thing, a large electric sunroof can be rolled back for a light breeze. The driver benefits from keyless entry, power windows, electric door locks, and power folding mirrors. A tilt-adjustable steering column and powered drivers seat makes daily use more enjoyable. All these items work well, in typical Toyota fashion! The seats are trimmed in a two-tone cloth that is in good shape and soft to the touch. The upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is comfortable on longer hauls, and the rear bench can comfortably seat three additional passengers with ample head and legroom to spare. The carpet, door cards, and headliner are in good shape, too as this truck was obviously cared for in Japan. It even has the original owner's manuals still on hand!
The sturdy body on frame underpinnings are powered by the hearty 2UZ-FE. Sold here in the States, this punchy and reliable V8 is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly care of a new 12v battery installed here in our shop. To keep the 4.7L on the up and up, a new engine air filter was installed as was a new fuel filter. We didn't stop there as one of our trained techs replaced the old weary valve cover gaskets with new ones, too. Power is fed through a stout automatic and sent to both axles through a selective transfercase. Low range is available should the going get tough and the center differential can be locked, too. The ride quality is fantastic and the Land Cruiser is truly prolific on pavement. For off-road excursions, there is decent ground clearance and the long wheelbase feels comfortable and planted even at higher speeds. These 100 series Cruisers are also a fair amount faster than the inline-six powered trucks it replaced. The ABS brakes are confident and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. The Fifteen52 alloys are wide and set off the aesthetic with their bronze hue. They are wrapped in new 33" All terrain Falkens that will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. Lastly, we performed a fresh four wheel alignment. She tracks straight as an arrow and is ready to conquer stateside terrain!
