Arriving just in time for the new millennium, the 100 Series Land Cruiser represented the culmination of Toyota's seven-plus decades of SUV design. It set the bar for refinement, technology, and safety standards and is regarded as one of the brand's most timeless designs. This 1998 is in wonderful shape, set off by OEM rainguards, a factory rear tire swingarm with its expensive hardshell cover, 18x9 alloys, and rear privacy tint. Finished in White Pearl (057) with a one-off Magnetic gray lower cladding, the paint is in good nick aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this V8-powered beast is offered with a mere 103k verified and documented miles on the clock. Luxurious, spacious, comfortable, and capable it's easy to see why these Japanese Classics are the best of the best!
The cabin is in above-average shape and significantly larger than the 80 series it replaced. It also came with many more standard safety features such as dual front SRS airbags and ABS brakes. The dashboard design is a clean one, and it lacks any cracking or fading. The interior materials are all finished in a monochromatic tan scheme. Fortunately, the previous owner cared for this one well in a prior life as the seats lack any serious rips stains, or other defects outside of some expected bolster wear on the power adjustable driver's bucket. The interior controls and power amenities are all easy to navigate. Dual zone climate control works like a charm and allows both left and right passengers to adjust the cabin temperature independently. Directly underneath, the OEM audio sounds great, and an external DVD player and screen were added for some additional entertainment on long road trips. Power windows, power folding mirrors, and power door locks (keyless) are all fully operable and make driving a bit more accessible for all. If you desire cargo capacity over family hauling, the third row can stow away to the side, and the middle row against the front to create wide berth in the rear. Additionally, the rear bench can slightly recline if you need to catch some Z's. Overall, the 100 series is about on par with most other timeless offerings still plodding along our highways today. This one happens to be a great example, and it should suit future occupants well for years to come.
Body on frame and manufactured to withstand loads of abuse, these Cruisers are built to stand the test of time. This one is powered by the same V8 offered stateside making parts and service a snap! Fresh off a recent oil and filter change, the 4.7L churns to life care of a new 12v battery. A new alternator keeps the battery well charged and drives your accessories without issue. To ensure the seamless operation of the 2UZ-FE, one of our trained techs has replaced the engine air filter and fuel filter with new units. Mated to a smooth-shifting automatic, power is fed to both axles through a full-time 4WD system, with a center locking differential and rear locker on tap if you choose to go on an off road excursion. The 100 accelerates well for its size and is comfortable at interstate speeds. The power steering is light, yet on point and the factory adjustable dampers insulate the cabin over almost any road imperfection although we need to note the factory height adjustability is stuck on the normal setting and will not adjust high or low anymore. We refreshed the driveline a tad adding new rear swaybar end links and a front left one. The standard ABS brakes feel reassured and grip comes from a set of brand new Falken tires. They complete the aesthetic, reduce the road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
