Japan is a hotbed of automotive expression. Generally speaking, the smaller exterior dimensions of JDM vehicles necessitates some innovation to maximize interior space and comfort. The team at Honda did a superb job on this 1996 Stepwgn. The cavernous cockpit and distinctive styling are complemented by a reliable and efficient Honda drivetrain. Powered by the solid B20 four-cylinder engine found in our stateside CR-V's, this eight-seater has been redone in a one-off Sable Black overseas. The aftermarket FRP aero, clear tails, tinted rainguards, and 19" rolling stock set this van off, and beyond some light scuffs, dings, and chips associated with normal use, the paint is in good nick. Fresh off a recent service, this stellar little ride is offered with only 73k verified and documented miles. For those looking for a unique, practical, and useful little ride, this Japanese Classic is in a class of its own, and is turn-key ready to rock.

The cabin is bigger than many of the SUVs we sell, and has some incredible flexible seating options along with a wide array of equipment. The view of the road ahead is clear and unobstructed, while the HID headlamps and massive windscreen are ideal for visibility. The dash is in good nick, lacking any cracking or distortion, and features two glove boxes and some hidden cup holders. The A/C works and a Carrozerria head unit upgrade pipes tunes through the cabin if you like. Electric windows, door locks, and mirrors make daily use enjoyable, and all work as advertised. The seats steal the show, especially in the rear. The multicolored upholstery is soft and durable, and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can swivel 180 degrees and also fold flat into a mattress, used in conjunction with the rear bench. For extra cargo capacity, the rear row split folds into the D pillar. There are some light stains on the carpets and headliner to note and the ABS light is on, but as a whole, this van was clearly cared for in a prior life. It even has the original owners' manuals and maintenance booklets on hand!

To save manufacturing expenses Honda chose to make the Stepwgn a front engine two-box design, and the model is closely related to both the CR-V and the Civic. Powered by a reliable B series, the little Honda is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up with the twist of the key. A new 12v battery was installed in our shop and should last for the next few years to come. To keep the 2.0L topped up on oil a new valve cover gasket was installed, adding to the next owner's peace of mind. Power is fed to the front wheels through a slick-shifting automatic transmission. The light curb weight makes acceleration better than expected, and the Stepwgn does great on the highway. One of our trained techs also rehabbed the suspension, adding new bellow boots to the axles and new front inner tie rods as well. Once that was done we slapped on new 19" tires and sent her to get a fresh alignment. The power steering is on point, and the Honda tracks well. Easy to park and ideal for friends, family, and cargo, this Stepwgn is the real MVP!
