Exterior Overview
The J100 Land Cruiser is the total package. It’s durable, capable, and features a nearly bulletproof V8 4WD drivetrain. Beloved by enthusiasts, families on the go, and used by organizations like the UN, these rigs are appealing for a million and one reasons. If you had to critique the model, you could perhaps say it was a bit conservatively styled, but examples like the VX Limited take this truck’s aesthetics to a whole new level. The White Pearl (057) paint is in good shape aside from some dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Our 2001 is adorned with LED tail lamps, deep dish Bradley 4×4 Engineering wheels, wide aftermarket fender flares, an OEM optional grille, OEM rainguards, and privacy tint. Fresh off a comprehensive service, this terrific Toyota is offered with a mere 134k verified and documented miles on the clock. Perfect as a year-round daily driver, these haulers make killer beach mobiles and dedicated overlanders. Safe, spacious and practical, this Japanese Classic is likely to last forever!
Interior Overview
Access inside the massive cabin is seamless, thanks to functional keyless entry. Once inside, drivers of all sizes can find the ideal seating position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. The center stack is close by and easy to reach. The simple controls are intuitive, and piping hot heat and cold A/C fill the cabin upon request. Above, a touchscreen Kenwood radio with integrated Bluetooth supplements the V8 soundtrack under the hood. It even includes an integrated backup camera so you don’t demolish the midsize sedan parked behind you! Power folding mirrors, power locks, power windows, and cruise all work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The seats are trimmed in a soft tan cloth. The upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and were cared for overseas. The rear row can also recline, split fold, and tumble forward to create a massive cargo area. The headliner is in good shape, as are the carpets, and the door cards have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse. Aside from some light steering wheel and shifter wear and a non-functioning driver lumbar inflator, it’s hard to nitpick the cabin. It even includes the owner’s manuals, maintenance booklet, and a spare key!
Mechanical Overview
Under the skin, this truck is just as beautiful as it is on the outside. Body on frame construction lends itself to withstanding lots of abuse, and this might be the finest V8 engine ever produced by Toyota. The 2UZ-FE is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life with the twist of the key. It sounds great thanks to a new muffler and breathes freely with its new engine air filter. The DOHC engine is linked to a stout automatic transmission. It shifts properly and was refreshed with a new transmission pan seal and new fluid. Torque is sent through a Full-Time 4WD system with a low range and center locking differential. This hulk gets up to highway merging speeds without breaking a sweat and slows down with confidence thanks to standard ABS and new front brake pads. The long wheelbase aids high speed stability and one of our trained techs has refreshed the suspension heavily. New rear shocks, rear upper and lower control arms and rear sway bar links were installed. The front end benefits from shocks too, and we also replaced the front lower ball joints and front sway bar links. It rides like a dream now and absorbs road imperfections with the best of them. The power steering system was also completely rehabbed. The rack was rebuilt, new boots and bushings installed and the fluid flushed. It was also aligned so that it tracks straight as an arrow and future adjustments should be buttery smooth thanks to new inner and outer tie rods. Lastly we mounted and balanced four new Yokohama tires all around. The new rubber looks mean, quells road noise, and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
