Exterior Overview
The 100 series Land Cruiser is a prized chassis, and it’s hard to find fault with these super SUV’s. If we were to critique anything, it would likely be the V8 powerplant’s gas-guzzling tendencies. For a full-sized sport utility, one may be surprised to learn this turbodiesel Cruiser can easily achieve over 20 mpg without sacrificing the comfort or durability the chassis is known for. Finished in White Pearl (057) this 2001 VX Limited is easy on the eyes too, set off by a subtle suspension lift, LED tail lamps, OEM rainguards, new ICON wheels and a prominent aftermarket exhaust. Save for a few small chips, dings, and paint imperfections, the cosmetics are clean overall, and the 137k miles on the clock are nothing to scoff at either on this 25 year old cruiser. Rugged, refined, and reliable, this HDJ101 may be the perfect daily driver, and our trained technicians have fully serviced this rig for the road ahead. With everything the enthusiast desires, this is one of the best Japanese Classic SUV’s money can buy!

Mechanical Overview
Toyota’s been known to engineer some excellent diesel drivetrains. Efficient, torquey, and easy to service, we’re big fans of these 4.2l 6 pots and this intercooled 1HD-FTE may be the best layout we’ve seen! The 24 valve powerplant springs to life care of 2 new 12v batteries. We exchanged the old fuel filter element for a brand new one and installed a new engine air filter to keep contaminants out of your combustion chamber. A new valve cover gasket was also installed here, and we shored everything up with a fresh oil and filter service afterwards. Despite lacking a bit of displacement over its V8 counterpart, the I6 doesn’t feel down on power in the least bit, and actually offers a more rewarding driving experience with abundant midrange torque. An automatic transmission is fresh off a fluid flush, and a dual-range transfer case helps put the power down to all four wheels, with a standard center locker helping out if the going gets tough. The lifted suspension was rehabbed, and we installed a new adjustable rear panhard bar to make the most of the corrected geometry. To get the drivetrain state safety compliant, we also installed new rear upper and lower control arms. This loaded rig cruises comfortably over all surfaces, and lightweight power steering promotes maneuverability, after a fresh four wheel alignment. The ICON alloys look stylish on this Cruiser, and to help get you off the beaten path, they’re wrapped in all new Falken A/T rubber. Efficient, functional, and fun, what more could you possibly want out of a Toyota?
