Exterior Overview
Toyota built its sterling reputation on models like this 2000 Land Cruiser. Able to withstand tough terrain and harsh environments, this nearly bomb-proof V8 model is also refined and luxurious. Set off by a set of LED tail lamps, an OEM chrome trunk garnish, new 17″ Icon wheels, OEM rainguards and a factory rear spoiler, this 4×4 is quite the looker. Aside from a few light dings, chips and scuffs, the one-off Beysehir Black paint is in fine shape. Fresh off a comprehensive service, this VX Limited model is turnkey ready to rock and offered with only 98k verified and documented miles on the ticker. Safe, spacious, capable, and reliable, this Japanese Classic would make for a wonderful daily driver, wicked weekend cruiser, or dedicated campsite companion.
Interior Overview
The cabin is in really good shape, and it was clearly cared for in Japan. Access within is seamless thanks to functional keyless entry. Both front occupants benefit from power front heated seats and dual front SRS airbags. The dashboard lacks any cracking of fading, and pilots of all sizes can find the perfect driving position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. Power folding mirrors, power locks, cruise control, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. An upgraded Eclipse touchscreen pipes in the tunes, and below is a simple-to-use automatic climate control unit. It doles out cold A/C and piping hot heat so that this UZJ100 can be enjoyed year-round. Rarely found, this Landy also includes an optional CoolBox center console to keep your libations cold. The seats are trimmed in a soft tan cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is in good shape. OEM carpet mats match the upholstery and help protect your floors from unwanted spills or stains. The rear row can tumble forward, recline, and split fold depending on your cargo-carrying needs. The same fabric can be found in the door cards, too, which have aged gracefully. The carpet and headliner lack any major blemishes, and aside from a non-functional moonroof, it’s really hard to critique the cabin.
Mechanical Overview
The body-on-frame construction is able to withstand tons of abuse, and the same can be said for the 2UZ-FE engine. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L churns to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. We installed some new hood shocks so fluid checks would be a stress-free affair, and we replaced the alternator so that all the electronics will stay properly powered. The 2UZ is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that sends torque through a Full-Time 4WD system. A low range and center locker are on standby, should you plan to travel off the beaten path. The long wheelbase aids high speed stability, and the adjustable height control suspension rides well. To refresh the suspension, we had one of our trained techs replace the rear upper and lower control arms. We also replaced a passenger front tie rod for state inspection purposes. The power steering system is light and easy to articulate, and a new passenger side rack boot was installed to replace the old torn one. The ABS brakes feel confident, and grip is handled by four new Falken tires we mounted and balanced here at the dealership. The new rubber looks mean, quells road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
