Exterior Overview
Those who own a well sorted Land Cruiser know they’re sitting on a goldmine. They’re nearly indestructible, easy to service, and models like the 100 series have aged so well that most folks don’t feel shortchanged daily driving them in modern times. Investing in a Japanese Market example means prioritizing mileage, condition, and service above all else, and this 2000 ticks all those boxes, and then some! Finished in a one-off Opal White Pearl, this luxury cruiser is set off by custom fender flares, a factory optional aluminum front grille, an optional rear spoiler and a slick set of Method Racing wheels. Compared to our wrung-out domestic examples, the 103k miles on the clock are a sight for sore eyes too. That’s not to say this is a perfect 25 year old truck, as the paintwork shows a few minor chips, nicks, and dings, and the factory spare tire swingarm has been deleted previously. Still, the condition of this Land Cruiser speaks for itself, and it’s turn-key and fresh off a recent service. Take it to the campsite, on the trail, or just on your commute, this Japanese Classic truly does everything, and does it well!

Interior Overview
The interior is plush, comfortable, and has everything but the kitchen sink. Premium upholstery, a slew of power options, and most importantly, a stowable third row to keep your kids and companions happy on a long road trip. The tan cloth seats are soft to the touch and show no discernible damage, and both driver and passenger benefit from heated buckets up front. The dash is in equally good shape, and for safety conscious passengers, dual SRS airbags are present. The driver can tilt the steering column at will to get comfortable, and a touchscreen Eclipse headunit was dropped in to supply the tunes. Adjacent to the audio, factory automatic climate control can command temperatures in both front and rear zones, and cold A/C and hot heat are on tap. For a more open-air driving experience, a power moonroof can slide open to let in natural sunlight. The remaining interior materials are in good nick, including the rear bench, which can flip forward to expand the cargo hold. The headliner is tight and tidy, and the door cards wear cloth inserts that match the factory upholstery beneath the covers. With so much good to say about the cabin condition, the only notable defect seems to be some wear to the factory woodgrain steering wheel, and an indented center console lid. Power windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors work like a charm. We’ve even retained the owner’s manuals and factory maintenance booklet, which are both stowed snugly in the glovebox.

Mechanical Overview
Under the hood, the 2UZ-FE is a real champion of an engine. This 4.7 V8 powers numerous domestic Toyotas, making parts and service a breeze, and ours has the added benefit of a comprehensive recent service, and a fresh state safety inspection! For starters, we dropped in a new 12v battery, which enabled us to properly test the alternator. An oil and filter service was also performed, and we replaced the valve cover gaskets to keep the fresh lubricant internal. While we were in there, eight new spark plugs were also dropped in. A new engine air filter and fuel filter handle a basic tune up on the 4700cc powerplant, and the engine runs strong, making impressive power all the way up to redline, and expelling fumes through an aftermarket dual exit exhaust. It’s mated to a stout 4 speed automatic gearbox, which distributes power equally to both drive axles. In true Land Cruiser fashion, this J100 features functional high and low gearing, and a center locking differential to assist on loose surfaces. To keep the drivetrain safety compliant, new rear upper control arms were installed, which assist the factory suspension in being comfortable and easy to control. Those familiar with our inventory may notice we perform a lot of power steering repairs on these old Toyotas. Typically needed after 25 years of road use, we rebuilt the steering rack with new seals, and reassembled the unit with new inner and outer tie rods, boots, and bushings. It was installed back into the truck and immediately flushed with new fluid, before it was tossed up on our alignment rack to get dialed in. Four new Falken tires were installed, and not only will you track dead straight, you’ll look good flying down the pavement, and have plenty of traction when needed most!
