Exterior Overview
This is not your grandma’s Lexus. This Toyota Aristo is far more, and one of the best Japanese Classics you can daily drive here in the states, due to its abundant parts availability. Our 2000 Vertex Edition features a few options never seen here in the US, and is backed by the same dependable Toyota build quality US enthusiasts have come to know and love. Finished in White Pearl, this JZS160 is easy on the eyes, and is set off by a factory rear spoiler, LED tail lamps, OEM rainguards, and 18″ SSR GTV01 alloys. Save for a few light paint imperfections, the paint is in far above average shape for a 25 year old vehicle, and the 92k verified and documented miles on the clock do a lot to back up that statement. Ideal as a durable and dependable daily, highway hauler, or future show car standout, this Aristo does it all, and does it well!
Interior Overview
For decades, stateside Lexus enthusiasts lusted over the Aristo’s premium cloth upholstery, and we can confirm it has certainly lived up to the hype! Clearly cared for in a prior life, the two-tone cloth shows no rips, stains, or tears and the matching inserts in the door cards are in good nick, too. For a 25 year old car, the vinyl trimmings on the dash and door cards have held up exceptionally well and the integrated touch screen is easy to navigate, with dual zone climate control allowing your passenger to adjust cold A/C and hot heat to their personal preference. The adjacent JBL premium audio system sounds swell, and this Aristo also benefits from factory cruise control. Further aiding daily driving ease, all four power windows unfurl, and the power locks and power folding mirrors work too. There’s even a power moonroof that can unfurl to let in a view of the heavens above. Both forward seats are power adjustable, and the driver also gains a tilt and telescoping steering column to accommodate pilots of all shapes and sizes. For some added safety behind the wheel, Toyota bolstered this cockpit with dual front and side SRS airbags too! The headliner is tidy and the carpets have resisted unwanted holes or stains. Even the original owner’s manual was retained, and helps preserve the history of this lovely sedan.
Mechanical Overview
The 2JZ-GE under the bonnet is a durable motor. It was offered abundantly in models here stateside, including the GS300, which this Aristo is based on. It’s frugal on fuel, inexpensive to service, and is fresh off some maintenance by our trained technicians. Ripe and ready to go, we installed a new 12v battery to aid ignition, and gave this JZS160 a fresh oil and filter service. We took care of the biggest bit of preventative maintenance, which should keep this Aristo ticking along for another 25 years. The timing belt and water pump are brand new, and we chucked in new cam seals to keep any lubricant from escaping the engine. We also installed a new front main seal, and installed a new gasket on the lower oil pan to keep things bone dry. A new engine air filter was installed, and with the maintenance performed this Aristo was primed and ready for its official road test and state safety inspection. This S160 soars up to highway speeds, and an automatic transmission sends power swiftly to the rear wheels. A long wheelbase helps this luxury sedan feel planted, aftermarket coilovers stiffen up the ride, and we took care of new front upper control arms, caster arms, sway bar links, and rear knuckle bushings to keep the drivetrain safety compliant. Power steering helps direct this barge accordingly, and the ABS brakes are nitrogen assisted and work like a charm. We wrapped the SSR’s in fresh Falken rubber and performed a fresh alignment after the suspension work. This Aristo now tracks straight as an arrow and is primed and ready for tens of thousands of miles of comfortable cruising!
