Interior Overview
The interior has been fully modernized, and is comfortable and accessible to boot. Premium Recaro SR7 adjustable sport seats are fashioned in a black and blue two tone, and the remaining upholstery shows well, from the anthracite headliner, to the carpets below, which are protected by OEM mats. The dash is in good shape and houses a passenger SRS airbag for a bit of added safety. The driver gains access to a tilt adjustable steering column, and a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel feels nice in the palm. The center stack is easy to navigate, and digital automatic climate control pipes cold A/C and hot heat into the cabin on command, adjacent, a top-of-the-line Pioneer headunit pumps in the tunes, with Bluetooth connectivity. To the right of the steering column, controls for the HKS boost controller, and Blitz electronic exhaust valve give the driver command over this S15’s performance, and a pillar-mounted Defi Gauge and ZD multifunction display keeps your engines parameters within close reach. Power windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors work like a charm, and the rearview mirror features an integrated rear camera so you have a full view of the road behind you. The upholstery shows virtually zero defects, and the factory mesh on the rear seats is free of stains or tears. The rear bench even folds down, in case you need to maximize cargo space in the trunk!
Mechanical Overview
Staying true to the formula, Nissan stuck with the formidable SR20DET to the very end. This turbo-four is packed with plenty of good service, and even a few upgrades to sweeten the deal. Our trained technicians have also given it a comprehensive service, and it cranks over with haste, care of a new 12v battery. Fresh off an oil and filter service, we also replaced the fuel filter, and with a Greddy intake manifold, Blitz intake, and Blitz intercooler, this SR can really get out of its own way. Enhancing auditory appeal are a GP sports catback exhaust, HKS downpipe, and a Blitz blow-off valve to boot. This frisky four banger is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission, which we replaced the output seal on and performed a fluid exchange for preventative maintenance. It throws power to the rear wheels, and a 1.5 way LSD is ideal for corner-carving. New front caster arms improve handling, and Blitz coilovers are comfortable and work nicely for daily driving. The brakes benefit from upgraded pads and rotors, and the Volks are wrapped in fresh Falken rubber. Full of grip, and freshly aligned, they keep this Spec R from getting squirrely, and should last for a good while!
