Exterior Overview

Setting new standards for refinement, safety, and off-road capability, the J100 Land Cruiser was produced from 1998-2007. This 2000 Cygnus is a wonderful example of the brand’s largest SUV, and is fresh off a recent service. Powered by a nearly bulletproof 4.7L V8, this 4×4 is offered with only 132k verified and documented miles on the clock. They also look stately, and this Pearl White (057) SUV is adorned with Method alloys, LED tail lamps, OEM rainguards, a Gandor exhaust, and an aggressive OEM rear spoiler. Ideal as a year-round, all-weather kid ferry, fun overlanding beast, or brash beach cruiser, this SUV can do it all. Reliable, tough, and highly collectible Japanese Classic rigs are our thing, and this truck is one heck of a buy!

Interior Overview

The cabin is expansive, covered in electric options, and includes numerous safety features. We know this Landy is special, as there are a few rare options we don’t always see. For instance, the rear quarter glass pops outward for extra ventilation with the press of a button. Heated seats were also spec’d too, so that your winter buns are warmed properly. The driver can find the ideal seating position courtesy of an electric tilt and telescoping steering wheel. In fact, both front seats are power adjustable. The middle row slides forward to accommodate more cargo, and the rear jump seats can be stowed tightly against the D-pillar. The leather is in good shape aside from a few spots of age-related wear. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion, improving daily use. The digital automatic climate control unit is easy to operate and pipes in cold A/C and piping hot heat depending on your preference. The same unit controls the audio, which is on hand to supplement your commute. If you prefer more natural ventilation, a large sunroof tilts and retracts to supplement airflow. The headliner and door cards are in good shape, and the carpets have escaped the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse.

Mechanical Overview

The 2UZ-FE is an incredible engine, with Stateside examples logging a half a million miles with regularity. This V8 is fresh off a recent oil and filter service, and churns to life promptly care of a new 12v battery.  Checking fluids is made more seamless thanks to new hood shocks that were installed, and the bonnet lifts up and stays put just as it should. A tune-up was in order, and so we installed a new set of spark plugs, a fresh air cleaner, and a new fuel filter. To keep all the oil internal to the 4.7, one of our trained techs has replaced the valve cover gaskets with new ones. The 2UZ is mated to a stout automatic gearbox sends torque through a full-time 4WD transfercase. The gearbox shifts as it should, and the 4WD system includes settings for a center locker and low range, should you be travelling on loose surfaces where additional traction is required. On the pavement, the ride is soft and predictable. The height-adjustable suspension is the same as our LX470s and adds to the functionality of this SUV. We installed new rear sway bar links and new inner and outer tie rods before we performed a four-wheel alignment. We also rehabbed the power steering system heavily. The steering rack was completely rebuilt and along with new rack bushings and a fluid flush were performed too. The ABS brakes feel confident when called upon to slow this heavyweight down, and grip is handled by four new 33″ Falken tires mounted and balanced at each corner. Aside from a light manifold leak that goes away after a minute or so, it’s hard to fault the mechanicals, as they are as solid as a rock. Turn key and ready to roll, all this rig needs is a new American owner.
