Exterior Overview
This 2000 Impreza WRX STi wagon is the holy grail for Subaru diehards. Only released domestically in WRX form, this practical and potent upgrade is our forbidden fruit. Finished in a classic Platinum Silver, this wonderful wagon is adorned with a new set of 17″ Enkei wheels, OEM side and rear spats, OEM Optional Genome exhaust, OEM rainguards, and a factory rear spoiler. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good shape, and this five-seater is fresh off a comprehensive service including a new clutch, timing belt, and water pump. Boasting only 99k verified and documented miles on the clock, this AWD hatch would make for a fun family ferry, cool canyon carver, or reliable rally rocket. Fun, capable, and practical, this Japanese Classic is an all-around decent performer and an incredible overall value.
Interior Overview
The cabin is decently appointed, ergonomic, and spacious. Dual SRS front airbags are standard, should you be safety-conscious, and the dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. The center stack is easy to reach and features a functional OEM Kenwood radio and an automatic climate system that is able to handle heating and cooling duties. Drivers of all sizes can find the ideal piloting position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Subaru fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. Optional Xenon headlamps illuminate the road ahead and are adjustable too. The blue and black Alcantara seats are highly supportive. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is replicated in the door cards. The headliner and carpets are in fine shape, and aside from some light steering wheel wear on the leather-wrapped MOMO, some headliner stains, and some missing rear headrests, it’s hard to complain about the interior. Even the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase of this fine estate!
Mechanical Overview
The EJ207 is a punchy boxer four that is fresh off an oil and filter service. We chucked in a new alternator to keep the brand-new 12V battery charged, and this 2.0L turns over quickly with the twist of the key. A new set of plugs and wires were installed, as were new engine air and fuel filters, and this AVCS-equipped EJ pulls hard to redline and throws you back in your seat. A couple of oil leaks were addressed while on our lift. One of our trained techs replaced the valve cover gaskets and cam seals and then removed and replaced the old oil separator. A new oil pan seal and front main were done while we were in there! Best of all we installed a new timing belt and water pump, flushed the coolant, and replaced the thermostat. The six-speed manual is communicative and shifts precisely. Torque is fed through Subaru’s symmetric AWD system, and this thing gets down and boogies when you mash the accelerator. A new clutch holds the power without an issue and will last for a good long while to come. The long wheelbase distributes road imperfections well, and this ride quality is above average. The power steering is light and easy to articulate, and standard ABS and disc brakes confidently slow down this hauler. The wheels are wrapped in new 17-inch Dunlop rubber. The new tires quell road noise, promote road adhesion, and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
