Exterior Overview
If you squint a bit, it would be easy to confuse this MR-S with something exotic. The curvaceous styling, mid-engine layout, and five-speed manual do a lot for enthusiasts, while the reliable and efficient 1.8L plays to your sensibilities. Finished in an eye-catching Spectra Blue Mica (8M6), this drop top is set off by an OEM front lip, OEM side skirts, factory rear apron, and lightweight Work Emotion alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in fine shape, and this two-seater is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 94k verified and documented miles on the clock, this turn key sports car is ready to hit the open road. Upgraded with a few performance goodies in Japan, this 1999 is a delight to motor. At home blasting down the highway for the daily commute, this terrific Toyota is also an autocross all-star and canyon-carving weapon as well. Easy to service, and a blast to drive, this Japanese Classic is an incredible overall value you won’t want to sleep on.
Interior Overview
The cabin is surprisingly spacious and has a few safety and power options as standard equipment. Keyless entry allows for seamless cabin access, and the driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal seating position. Dual SRS airbags are on standby for those who might be safety conscious, and the dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. The center stack is close by and has large knobs for easy adjustments for the air conditioning and heat, which work like a charm. If you prefer more natural ventilation, the side glass powers down, and the top can be pushed back in a second. Power locks and mirrors are standard and make daily use more manageable. A Clarion touchscreen headunit looks modern and sounds great! For those who want to keep their eyes safely on the road, it has integrated Bluetooth hands free tech. The seats are in good nick and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. A sizable glovebox and two storage cubbies behind the seats allow for your valuables to be stored safely. Overall, the condition is impressive and it appears this MR-S was cared for in a life overseas.
Mechanical Overview
Cornering is what this chassis is all about, but the 1ZZ-FE under the hood is peppy, efficient, and reliable. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 1.8L churns to life promptly, thanks to a new lightweight 12V battery. It sounds fantastic thanks to a ProRacerZZ catback exhaust, which has a mellow tone. It idles with confidence and pulls hard to redline. The five-speed manual gearbox shifts just as it should and lacks any hitches or grinds. Torque is sent to the rear wheels, and this little Toyota can hustle up to freeway merging speeds without breaking a sweat and is comfortable on longer cruises. The suspension is predictable, and this MR-S rides on TRD springs that reduce the fender gap and lowers the center of gravity. To further strengthen the chassis, a Cusco underbrace, Tanabe front strut tower brace, and a rear Cusco strut tower brace were installed in Japan. The ABS brakes feel confident thanks to new rear rotors and pads, and grip is handled by four new tires. The power steering is communicative and on point and delivers the right type of feedback enthusiasts like. Four brand new tires have been mounted and balanced to deliver all the grip you’ll need for tens of thousands of miles to come. Turn key and ready to rock, this feisty and stylish droptop can be yours today!
