Exterior Overview
It’s incredible to think that the Crown model is entering its 70th year of production. The model has evolved over the past seven decades, and this eleventh-generation chassis is luxurious, spacious, and safe. Finished in Toyota’s lovely Millennium Silver Metallic (1C0) this saloon is set off by a set of OEM rainguards, gold emblems, and chrome door handles. We wanted to note that the rear bumper and front right fender were replaced in Japan at some point, and a few other light scuffs, dings, and chips were associated with normal use. No worse for the wear, this Althlete drives like a dream and is fresh off a recent service. Offered with only 53k verified and commented miles on the clock, the silky smooth inline-six engine is barely broken in. Ideal as a pavement-pounding daily commuter, unmodified slate for a VIP build, or wicked weekend cruiser, this Japanese Classic would be a good fit. Affordable, reliable, and unique, this silky-smooth Toyota is retail-ready to go!

Interior Overview
The long wheelbase creates a massive passenger compartment. The cabin is well equipped too, and comes with a slate of safety features like dual front SRS airbags and ABS brakes. Functional keyless entry allows for seamless cabin access and the driver can find the ideal driving position thanks to a tilt and telescoping steering column. To make daily use more enjoyable, power windows, power locks, and heated power-folding mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and a large glovebox and hidden storage cubby makes storing your valuables a snap. The backlit gauges are easy to read and the digital climate control system is intuitive. One of the most breathtaking features is the power oscillating front vents, which are guaranteed to impress your passengers. Cold A/C and piping hot heat make this sedan suited for year-round use and the OEM audio can supplement your drive with a few tunes. The textured gray cloth seats are in above-average shape and steal the show. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and are quite comfortable on longer hauls. The headliner, door cards, and carpets are in good nick too, and have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse. The cabin is notably quiet, even at higher speeds, as this executive car rides smoothly, and is well insulated from the road. Clean, comfy, and ergonomic, this cabin leaves little to be desired. Even the owner’s manuals and OEM carpet mats are included with the purchase.

Mechanical Overview
Under the skin this big-body Toyota was designed to last. It is powered by a VVT-i version of the 1JZ-GE. The 2.5L is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life with the twist of the key thanks to a new 12v battery. A new engine air filter works to maximize fuel economy and we have resealed the PCV and lower oil pan so that it runs right as rain. Best of all one of our trained techs has performed the most expensive maintenance item of all! A new timing belt and water pump service saves the new owner some serious cash and adds some peace of mind to the purchase experience. New coolant was added to the engine and a new thermostat to maintain proper thermal management. The 1J is linked to a stout automatic gearbox. It shifts properly and a manual mode allows the driver to select his or her own gears via steering wheel-mounted buttons. To refresh the driveline we reaseled the transmission pan before its initial road test. Torque is sent to the rear wheels and this Crown sails up to highway speeds without breaking a sweat. The suspension is soft yet predictable and gobbles up large potholes and road imperfections. New caster arm bushings were needed for VA state inspection so we swapped in a new set and performed a four wheel alignment. ABS brakes are standard and clamp down hard to slow this big girl. Grip is handled by four new Falken all-season tires mounted and balanced at each corner. They reduce road noise, ride great, and will last for tens or thousands of miles to come. Turn key and ready to roll, this special saloon is an incredible driving sedan and a wonderful overall value.
