Exterior Overview
The little island of Japan has produced some of the world’s best sports cars. This Silvia ranks high on this list, for many reasons. The reflexive handling, affordable inception price, and revvy slate of engines meld together to create a sublime driving experience. This 1999 is also easy on the eyes, with its classic sports car proportions and angular styling. Finished in a timeless Sparking Silver (WV2), this Spec S is set off by OEM rainguards, optional factory fog lamps, LED tail lamps, HKS Silent Hi-Power exhaust, and 17″ RAYS Gram Lights 57G alloys. Aside from a few light nicks, chips, and dings the paint is in good shape, and this stickshift coupe is fresh off a recent service. Offered with only 90k verified and documented miles on the clock, this Type S is as fresh as a daisy. Fun, collectible, and cool, this Japanese Classic and final iteration of the Silvia is driving nirvana, and you’d be foolish to miss out on it!
Interior Overview
The cabin is simple, but features decent ergonomics and a fair amount of electric equipment. Cabin access is more convenient thanks to keyless entry and the driver benefits from a tilt adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and electric windows all operate in typical Nissan fashion making daily use more enjoyable. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and dual SRS front airbags are standard. The center stack is close by and easy to reach, too. A simple climate control system allows for cold A/C or piping hot heat to be mixed, and an upgraded Kenwood head unit pipes in the tunes. Bluetooth-equipped, the driver can keep focused on the road at all times! The sport cloth seats are in good nick and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The anthracite-colored headliner is in good shape and is held tight and taut to the roof. The carpets and door cards have resisted major wear and tear over the years and the steering wheel is in nearly mint condition. Overall this is one of the cleanest S15 cabins in recent memory and we feel the new American buyer will agree. We even have a spare key to include!
Mechanical Overview
This chassis features 50/50 weight distribution, so cornering and braking are always splendid. The SR20DE under the hood is enchanting, and although it lacks forced induction, you really don’t miss it. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2.0L chugs to life care of a new 12v battery. The SR is linked to a five-speed manual gearbox, that shifts without a grind or hitch. Power is slung to the rear wheels and this little Nissan has no issues getting up to safe merging speeds and is peppy from stoplight to stoplight, with an HKS exhaust cracking a few more ponies out of the SR. The power steering is on point and communicative and the ABS brakes bite down with ferocity. The suspension is a bit stiff, but this Silvia handles flatly and corners with the best of them. New Falken rubber has been mounted and balanced at each corner. Freshly aligned, this S15 racks straight as an arrow and the new tires reduce road noise and will last for tens of thousand of miles to come. Exciting to drive and easy to work on, this communicative and tossable sports car is a bonafide turn-key Japanese Classic to the core.
