Exterior Overview
It should come as no surprise at this point, Toyota knows how to design a killer sedan, and a performance-oriented one at that! This 1999 Chaser Tourer V is sleek, sporty, and backed by a dependable drivetrain. It also looks the part, finished in Pepper White (056) and is set off by a stylish FRP front bumper, OEM optional side skirts, and a factory rear bumper lip. An optional sport grille sets off the front fascia, and 17″ Gram Lights 57c alloys look great against the updated bodywork, with aftermarket coilovers eliminating any pesky gap between tire and fender. Enthusiasts know the 2.5T under the hood is pure gold, and this communicative saloon would be perfect for weekend canyon carving, parking lot skids, or simply going about your day to day commute. Save for a few paint chips and defects here and there, the aesthetics are far above average for a 25 year old vehicle, and the 58k verified and documented miles on the clock do a lot to cement the desirability of this darling JZX. Fresh off a recent service and ready to spin the rear tires, this Chaser is turn-key and ready to own and cherish. A special sedan with a penchant for performance, the JZX100 is a class-leading Japanese Classic, and a model that only gets better with age.

Interior Overview
Toyota was more than hitting their stride towards the dawn of the new millennium, and the X100’s cabin is a great example of why. Premium materials are standard, it’s loaded with amenities, and has been modernized a tad with some useful upgrades and extras. It’s also safe too, with standard dual SRS airbags up front. The OEM passenger seat boasts a side airbag as well, and the driver’s bucket was swapped to a Recaro SR2, to keep you snug when carving hairpin turns. The dash is trimmed in a soft-touch black vinyl, and has resisted any cracks or UV fading common on vehicles of this vintage. This Tourer V boasts exclusive carbon fiber accent trim, spanning the shift surround, center stack, and window switches. Although premium in feel, it’s also a nice reminder of this Chaser’s performance potential, and looks swell framing the full slate of power amenities. Positioned centrally, upgraded Pioneer audio with functioning Bluetooth lies adjacent to a digital automatic climate control unit. Easy to operate, the HVAC doles out hot heat and even cold A/C at a moments notice, and if you prefer more natural ventilation, power windows are on hand. Assisting daily use, the locks and electric folding side mirrors work well too, in true Toyota fashion. The back seats are spacious, and can cram in a couple extra passengers for a true “drift taxi” experience. Patterned cloth upholstery is standard, in above average shape overall, and is even mirrored in the door cards. The headliner is tight and tidy, as are the carpets. If we were to nitpick anything, some light distortion is present around the defrost vents, which is hardly noticeable behind the wheel. Other than that, we think the next owner should have no problem cherishing this classic cabin.

Mechanical Overview
Top of the line and a fan favorite amongst enthusiasts for the past three decades, the 1JZ-GTE under the hood is a real powerhouse. The 2.5L with its upgraded VVT-i technology and a quick-spooling twin scroll turbocharger that far surpassed the bulky twins on this Chaser’s JZX90 predecessor. Not just fun to drive, it’s also easy to maintain with accessible parts, and we’ve taken care of its first stateside service so you can daily drive this sport sedan from day one! Starting with the ignition, where a new 12v battery was dropped in to crank over this inline six, we then tended to a new engine air filter and fuel filter, and installed six new spark plugs to aid combustion. The most important bit of preventative maintenance, we installed a new timing belt and water pump, and replaced the thermostat for good measure. While we were in there, we also replaced the leaky cam seals, front main seal, and valve cover gaskets. Turn-key and ready to rock, this 2.5T makes quick work of jetting up to highway speeds, and an automatic gearbox is plenty responsive, delivering surprisingly quick gear changes. It’s also delightful to listen to, thanks to an aftermarket intake, exhaust, and front-mount intercooler. Power is shot rearward, and highway cruising is second to none on this lovely JZX. New adjustable coilovers sit at all four corners and are good for far more than just increasing the aesthetic appeal. They also aid handling, and we performed a fresh alignment to account for the change in suspension geometry. The steering is nimble and direct when carving corners, and ABS brakes come standard. The Gram Lights were wrapped in fresh rubber here at the shop. Necessary for putting the rear-drive power to the ground, they’ll keep you covered for tens of thousands of miles to come, and keep road noise to a minimum in this trusty Toyota.
