Exterior Overview
Toyota has always known how to create a killer sedan, and this 1999 Chaser Tourer S only bolsters that claim. It’s dependable, stylish, and quite comfortable too! This JZX100 is also the perfect blank canvas, as the exterior is unmodified and finished in Toyota’s classic White Pearl (051). Set off by OEM rainguards, refinished OEM Altezza alloys and a tasteful OEM rear spoiler, the cosmetics are factory fresh and only a few paint defects are present from day to day use. The 57k verified miles on the clock do a lot to cement this tourer’s value, and this frisky four door would be the perfect daily commuter or GTE swap candidate! One of Japan’s finest classic sedans, this is leagues better than your stateside Camry or Avalon!
Interior Overview
For being 25 years old, the interior has held up well and is significantly more stylish than the drab 90’s cockpits that graced our US market. The striped cloth bucket seats are decidedly modern, and safety is a top priority thanks to dual front and side SRS airbags. Driver comfort is also second to none, as both a tilt and telescoping steering column are on hand, and the climate control features oscillating vents to keep all passengers happy. For the blistering summer months the A/C blows ice cold and hot heat isn’t too far behind if you need it. The dash cover shows well although there is some light adhesive residue left behind from a screen removal. That’s not to say the factory audio is inop, and that still works well. Aiding daily use, power windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors are available within arms reach, and the accessory switches are trimmed in a stylish faux carbon finish to boot. The rear seats are plenty spacious, as is the trunk which rivals most full size luxury saloons. Save for a spotty touch screen atop the dash and some fading to the carbon trim, this cabin is it, and does a great job of serving your day-to-day.
Mechanical Overview
The icing on the cake, this Chaser has a 1JZ-GE under the bonnet, making servicing similar to a laundry list of USDM Lexus and Toyota models. Better yet, we’ve given this one a comprehensive service, including a brand new timing belt and water pump to get you on track for future maintenance schedules. While we were in there, we installed a new front main seal, and also capped things off with new valve cover gaskets to boot. A new engine air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs give the engine a fresh tune up and with the maintenance performed this Chaser gets up and goes without hesitation. An automatic gearbox throws power rearward, and the 50/50 weight distribution is easy to pilot. To get the suspension up to speed, the front caster arm bushings were replaced, and we threw it up on the rack for an alignment too. New front brake pads were installed along with freshly resurfaced rotors, and the ABS system works like a charm too. The refinished Altezza alloys ooze OEM plus appeal and are wrapped in brand spanking new all seasons. Stylish and full of tread, they’ll keep you covered for the road ahead.
