Exterior Overview
The Skyline is an enduring model, to say the least. Nearing 70 years old, it’s still in production today, but the R34 just might be the best generation. Sporty, reliable, and easy to service, it is one heck of well-rounded ride. This stickshift-equipped 1999 is handsomely styled, with its angular bodylines and aggressive aesthetic. Upgraded with a few performance goodies, enthusiasts will surely fawn when browsing through our photo spread below. Finished in a classic Athlete Silver (KV2), this coupe is set off by factory optional fog lamps, OEM rear spoiler, and silver Enkei RPF-1 alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scratches, the paint is in good shape and this coupe is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 48k verified and documented miles on the clock, this GT Turbo is barely broken in. Fast, collectible, and rewarding to drive, this Nissan is a certified Japanese Classic and has the lineage to prove it.
Interior Overview
You’d expect a sports coupe like the R34 to have a tight, barebones performance-oriented cockpit, but most enthusiasts are surprised to see just how spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable this Skyline can be. In fact, most of our clients daily drive them, as there’s a hefty helping of power equipment, durable materials, and safety features to be had. Settling into sport mesh seats, both driver and passenger gain ample head and legroom, and side airbags, along with a passenger front airbag, are present to keep things safe and secure. A MOMO steering wheel feels comfortable in the palms of your hands, and a tilt-adjustable steering column helps dial in an ideal piloting position. A NISMO gear knob helps the driver command gear changes, too. The sport mesh upholstery is in good shape, showing no discernible defects apart from a couple of light stains, typical of most 25-year-old vehicles. The center stack is in equally good shape, housing OEM audio that still works like a charm. Adjacent to the headunit is an easy-to-use digital automatic climate control unit that pumps in cold A/C and hot heat on command. For a more open-air driving experience, both power windows unfurl rapidly, and power locks and electric folding side mirrors assist daily use. The rear bench has enough room to squeeze in a tagalong, and the trunk is spacious enough to tow around luggage. The remaining interior materials are in good shape, and if we were to nitpick anything the trim around the factory triple gauge pod has developed a tacky texture over the years. Even the factory carpeted floor mats are in great shape, and we’ve retained the original owner’s manual and maintenance booklet to preserve the history of this lovely 34!
Mechanical Overview
This chassis is balanced, fun to drive, and pretty darn quick, too. Power comes from the legendary RB25DET NEO engine. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2.5L churns to life care of a new 12V battery. Maximizing power and fuel economy, a new mushroom filter, spark plugs, and a new fuel filter were promptly fitted. One of our trained techs also rehabbed the RB, installing new valve cover gaskets to keep the oil level full. Swapped in Japan at Nissan with a verified conversion, the inline six feeds power to the rear wheels through an OEM five-speed box. Gear changes occur without any hitches or grinds and this turbo beast sails up to highway speeds in an instant notice. It also handles well, thanks to Blitz adjustable coilovers. The ABS brakes bite down hard as new front rotors and pads were installed while it was on the lift. The power steering is communicative, on point and benefits from a fresh alignment. The tires are brand new and quell road noise and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. Aside from needing a new owner, this thing is good to go and turnkey ready to drive home!
