Nissan hit the mark with the S15 in every way possible. They made it fun to drive, with balanced 50/50 weight distribution, stylish, with bold angular bodywork, and modern, with a premium cabin and enough amenities to make daily driving a joy. Our 1999 Silvia Spec S is a cherry example, finished in a desirable Brilliant Blue (TV3). Set off by OEM optional Aero side skirts, rear spats, and riding on aftermarket coilovers and tasteful Enkei RPF1 alloys, this S15 turns heads right out of the box. It also shares a surprising amount of parts with USDM Nissans for a seamless servicing experience. The cosmetics are in above-average condition as this Silvia boasts fresh paint, and the 66k miles on the clock are verified and documented to help this coupe retain value. We did want to note a prior replacement of the left front fender in Japan, which does little to affect its overall appeal. Interior Overview

This Spec S has an inviting and attractive cockpit. It’s bolstered with safety features like dual SRS airbags, and is equipped with a full slate of power amenities to make daily driving a breeze. It even has OEM xenon headlamps, which make nighttime touge runs delightfully bright. A digital automatic climate control system is easy to use and can pump in freshly charged A/C and hot heat on command. The OEM audio is close by too, supplying a soundtrack to your drive. Both power windows work as advertised, as do the door locks and side view mirrors, which are power folding for a bit of JDM flair. The seats are trimmed in a two-tone cloth and mesh combo, which resists wear and tear well, and shows nicely for being 25 years young. The back seats are in equally good shape, and can fold flat to expand truck space and increase functionality. This spec S boasts an optional anthracite headliner, which gives the cabin a premium feel. The lucky next American owner should also breathe easy, knowing the dash plastics have not succumbed to any unwanted cracking, UV fading, or distortion. Even the factory carpet mats are in great shape and are included with the sale. As a whole, the interior condition impresses. It feels decidedly upmarket for an old Nissan, but can still hold its own, even well into the 21st century!

Mechanical Overview

Seasoned Nissan nuts will already be well acquainted with the SR20DE under the hood, but for newcomers, this servicing experience is far from difficult! To get you on track for the road ahead, we’ve given this one a comprehensive recent service, and replaced the tired old Japanese battery with a new USDM one. An oil and filter service was also performed on the SR, and the engine air filter and fuel filter were replaced to keep unwanted contaminants out of your combustion chamber. This 2.0l giddies up and cruises at highway speeds with ease, and a proper 5 speed manual gearbox shifts smoothly through the tree. Brand new coilovers feel poised and planted through more demanding twists and turns, and to ensure the suspension is safety compliant we installed new front caster arms, rear swaybar links, and installed new inner and outer tie rods up front. The ABS brakes grab on command and stop on a dime, and we wrapped the RPF1’s in fresh Falken rubber to ensure you won’t come up short on grip in this rear driver. Balanced, stylish, and performance-oriented, this Spec S is a great value!
