Exterior Overview

Interior Overview
The cabin design is simple, includes several power features, and is highly ergonomic. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and houses dual SRS airbags for some added peace of mind. The center stack is close by and includes an optional digital automatic climate control system. It can produce cold A/C and piping hot heat with the best of them, and is simple to operate. Below, we installed a new Dual Bluetooth headunit, primed to fill the cabin with tunes. The driver benefits from adjustable lumbar support and a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. Power windows, power back glass, electric locks, and mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion making daily use enjoyable. The seats are trimmed in a durable black and blue textured cloth. The Japan-exclusive upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and were cared for in a prior life. The rear row can split fold and can also tumble forward to create a flat loading floor. The carpets and headliner have resisted major abuse and the interior plastics have survived without major blemishes, too. Aside from the delamination on the leather door card inserts and some distortion on the dashboard by the base of the windscreen, its hard to critique this Surf.

Mechanical Overview
Built atop a real body on frame platform, this is no sedan-based crossover. It’s a truck in every sense of the word, and can handle loads of abuse because of its sturdy construction. Equally tough is the 3RZ-FE engine, which is fresh of an oil and filter service. A new 12v battery aids ignition, and a new intake air filter and a new fuel filter keep performance on the up and up. To refresh the 2.7L one of our trained technicians has installed a new valve cover gasket, new half moon seals, and resealed the distributor with a new o-ring. The front main was replaced, too, as was the oil pump seal so that the oil level would stay on full. The 3RZ pulls hard to redline and is mated to a stout automatic gearbox. It shifts as it should and the selectable transfercase gives the driver the ability to drive the rear wheels or all four. A desirable center locker was ticked on the factory options list and is a massive deal to the overlanders out there. Low range can be deployed for a beach outing and keeps momentum moving forward. It slows down promptly, too with standard ABS and new front brake pads and rotors. Best off all when it was up in the air we installed a new lift kit. The Ironman 4×4 lift and new shocks ride like a dream and a fresh alignment will keep the brand-new Falken tires lasting for tens of thousands of miles to come The power steering is light yet direct and this midsized is much easier to park than an unwieldy modern SUV. Perfect as a daily driver or weekend cruiser, this do-it-all all SUV is a wonderful rig and the new owner will surely agree!
