Exterior Overview

It’s delightful to import vehicles that feel and look modern and Nissan was really hitting its stride in 1999 when this athletic, four-door sedan rolled off the line. The angular, crisp styling is iconic, and this Sonic Silver (KR4) example is set off by a set of OEM rainguards and lightweight WEDS Joker Master alloys. Aside from a few dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use, the paint is in good shape. Fresh off a recent service, this stickshift GT model is offered with a mere 80k verified and documented miles. Perfect as a unique commuter, unique family hauler, or clean Cars & Coffee cruiser, this Japanese Classic proves that you don’t need to break the bank to get a dose of the R34’s prestige. Fun, reliable, and accessible this spacious Skyline saloon is turn-key ready to rock!

Interior Overview

The cabin provides loads of room for those riding up front and out back. It feels decidedly more modern than its predecessor and a few more features became standard with this generation. Dual SRS airbags were installed in all 34s and add some peace of mind for those who value saftey. Pilots of all sizes can find a comfortable space behind the wheel thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column. The power mirrors adjust properly and power locks and windows work like a charm and make daily use more enjoyable. Those hitting the road will love that this Nissan benefits from a Pioneer radio upgrade. The sound quality is above average and a bunch of Japanese music comes preloaded on the hard drive to get you in the mood! Directly above is the digital automatic climate control system. Intuitive to use and easy to operate, cold A/C and piping hot heat are on standby. The seats are in above-average shape and are upholstered in a grayish purple and black textured cloth. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and are comfortable on long hauls. The same material is featured in the door cards and the combination breaks up the gray cabin plastics nicely. The headliner is nearly mint and the carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse. Aside from a small crack in the dash from a Japanese navigation mount, some steering wheel wear, and an inoperable power folding passenger mirror it’s hard to complain about the cabin. Even the OEM carpet mats and a spare key are included with the purchase of this lovely Nissan.

Mechanical Overview

Powered by a silky smooth RB20DE, this Skyline is a joy to drive. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2.0L springs to life care of a new 12v battery. The inline six is a well oiled machine, and few simple maintenance items were attended to. Fuel is combusted properly thanks to a new fuel filter and spark plugs. The RB breathes freely care of a new engine air filter and pulls hard to redline. One of our trained techs rehabbed the six-pot with new valve cover gaskets and she is right as rain now! Linked to a proper manual gearbox, the driver has more control over the chassis than a slushbox-equipped example. The gearbox is communicative and maximizes the dual overhead cam two-liter’s power output. Torque is fed to the rear wheels, and this peppy little door makes plenty of power to blast onto the freeway without breaking a sweat. It slows down as quickly as it gets moving and the ABS brakes are bolstered with new rotors on the front axle. For state inspection purposes we refreshed the suspension with new front caster arms and inner and outer tie rods. Bumps are soaked up by the factory suspension and this sedan is way more refined than you might expect. It corners nicely and the power steering is light and on point thanks to a fresh alignment. The WEDS wheels are wrapped in good all season tires, which will provide grip for tens of thousands of miles to come. An all-around decent performer with room for five, this sporty and unmolested Japanese Classic is a fine example of this killer chassis that can fit five adults!
