Nissan had some stiff competition in the touring sedan segment in the late 90's. Fortunately, for the platform's 30th anniversary, the brand pulled out all the stops for their C35 Laurel. Fully revised, refined, and able to stand against dominant Toyota offerings, this premium saloon was a fan favorite, and over two decades later we'd say it's aged gracefully! Our 1999 is a solid example, finished in White Pearl (WK0) and set off by one-piece factory rainguards and Club S exterior styling. With no discernible defects apart from some light paint chips and dings throughout, the exterior is in above average shape, the drivetrain is easy to service and modify, and with 86k verified miles on the clock she's got plenty of life left. As a daily driver, or collectible weekend cruiser, this anniversary edition Laurel is nothing less than a true Japanese Classic!

The Tobacco interior is easily the highlight of this sedan, and fortunately, the materials are in above average shape overall. Showing no rips, tears, or stains on the cowhides, it's evident this example was well cared for in a prior life, and for a 1997 it's nice to know dual front and side SRS airbags are also on hand. The dash is ergonomically laid out and shows no cracking, fading, or major distortion from 27 years on the road. Additionally, the factory digital climate control and audio are mounted in the center stack and work like a charm. As expected from a daily, power windows and locks work as advertised and the side mirrors electronically fold to assume a smaller profile when parked parallel. The headliner is clean, and the carpets beneath have been protected by some OEM optional carpet mats. This Laurel has it all inside and is bound to be a conversation starter at your next Cars & Coffee. We even retained the original owner's manual for a bit of history from the turn of the century!

Frugal to operate, easy to service, and built to last, the RB25DE NEO under the hood is nearly the perfect powerplant for this Laurel. Ours is fresh off a recent service, and a new battery was chucked in with plenty of cold cranking amps to aid ignition. From there, we tackled some new valve cover gaskets and topped everything off with a fresh oil and filter service. A new engine air filter and spark plugs provide a bit of a tune up, and with the maintenance performed, this RB shoots up to highway speeds in a jiffy! The automatic transmission cycles through the gears with haste and throws power rearward. We replaced some leaky rear shocks with new units, and new inner and outer tie rods were installed all the way around. New caster arms were installed in the front too, and we dialed everything in with a fresh alignment. This lovely saloon now starts, stops, and steers as you'd expect, and the Bridgestone rubber is knee deep on tread and comfortable on longer drives. Stylish, easy to service, and a bonafide standout, this Laurel is it!
