Exterior Overview
Its generally accepted that the Land Cruiser is a workhorse, but the J100 platform that debuted right before the end of the last century set new standards for refinement and safety. This 1999 VX Limited is a wonderful truck, and offered for sale with a fraction of the mileage typically seen on American versions that are for sale. Having logged only 116k verified and documented miles, this V8 powered 4×4 is barely broken in. Set off by a brand new set of 16×8.5 Nomad wheels, LED tail lamps, OEM rainguards, an aggressive rear spoiler, privacy tint, and some flashy Ganador pipes, this rig absolutely steals the show. Sure there are a few minor dings, chips, and scuffs but overall this one-off Onyx Mica colored SUV shows well, and would turn plenty of heads at the local Cars and Coffee. A versatile platform, this Landy would make for a wonderful family hauler, cool weekend cruiser, or dedicated overloading beast! Reliable, capable, inexpensive to operate, and down to get dirty, this Japanese Classic is a dynamic SUV!

Interior Overview
The interior offers loads of space, tons of features and a few upgrades. An aftermarket keyless entry system allows everyone to enter seamlessly and head, leg, and shoulder room are about as good as anything we sell at this point. Both front occupants benefit from dual SRS airbags, which became standard on this generation platform. The driver can find the ideal driving position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column, and the power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion. If you plan to daily drive this VX in seasonal climates, cold a/c and piping hot heat can be mixed through the cabin thanks to auto climate control. The rearmost windows also pop out to supplement ventilation. If the sweet song of the V8 under the hood isn’t something you fancy, a Bluetooth-equipped Pioneer touchscreen head unit. It sounds decent and will surely jazz up your morning commute. The seats are trimmed in a soft tan textured cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and each seat is comfortable on longer hauls. The middle row tumbles forward to accommodate larger cargo and the clamshell hatch opens wide to gobble up your stowables. The door cards and headliner are in good shape and the carpets have avoided major abuse over the last quarter century. Aside from some steering wheel wear obscured by a cover, it’s really hard to complain about the cabin as it was clearly cared for in a previous life.

Mechanical Overview
This tough platform rides considerably better than the 80 series that preceded it and received a healthy power bump care of its newly developed 2UZ-FE V8. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L springs to life thanks to a new 12v battery. We replaced the soiled fuel filter with a new one and added a set of new spark plugs to improve fuel combustion. One of our trained techs has replaced the valve cover gaskets to give the 2UZ a new lease on life and we topped up all the other fluids for good measure. Power is fed through a stout automatic gearbox and funneled to the ground via full time 4WD. A center locker and low range are ideal for trips off the beaten path, but on tarmac, this Landy really shines. There are few squeaks and rattles and this substantial platform feels assured, even at higher speeds. For state inspection we shored up a few light suspension items. New front swaybar links, and rear swaybar link bushings were installed. Also, new inner and outer tie rods were replaced prior to a fresh alignment. The ABS brakes feel confident thanks to new front brake pads and a fluid flush. Additionally, the power steering is light yet on point. The rack was fully rebuilt in house, so there is no need to worry about fluid leaks. Grip is handled by four new 33″ Falken all-terrain tires mounted atop new Nomad wheels. The new rubber reduces road noise, and will provide tens of thousands of miles of grip for years to come.
