Toyota diehards are already familiar with the 100 series Land Cruiser's unstoppable nature, but only a select few enthusiasts are down with the Cygnus! This street style Cruiser is a great unit, backed by a potent V8 powerplant, and finished in a clean Pearl White (051). Set off by a hardshell tire carrier, factory optional rear spoiler, OEM rainguards, and WEDS Keeler alloys, the cosmetics look the part too, and the dual headlight design is shared with our stateside Lexus LX models. Showing only a few dings, chips, and scuffs from day to day use, the exterior of this 1999 is in good shape overall, and the 138k verified and documented miles make this an appealing buy in the used truck market as well. Well designed, comfortable, and a downright good rig overall, there's no SUV like this Land Cruiser Cygnus.
The interior provides everything you'd want out of a luxury SUV and nothing you don't. The seats are upholstered in a rare and desirable tan leather, which shows better than you'd expect for 25 year old cowhides. The dash is in good shape too, resisting any unwanted cracks or distortion over the years. Easy to navigate and fully functional, the factory touch screen headunit integrates HVAC and audio controls into one, and the A/C and heat work flawlessly, for good measure. To be expected on a luxury cruiser, a full slate of power equipment is available, and the power windows, power folding mirrors, locks, and electric moonroof all work at the push of a button to aid daily use. Both driver and passenger benefit from heated, power adjustable seating, and rear passengers have individual control over their separate climate zone, which reaches all the way back to the third row bench. If you aren't hauling around a full squad, the rear jump seats can fold off to the side to maximize the cargo hold. The headliner is tight and tidy, and the owner's manuals and maintenance booklets were retained from a prior life. Apart from some wear to the woodgrain steering wheel, it's hard to find anything to complain about in this cabin!
The 2UZ-FE under the bonnet is a great powerplant. Easy to locate parts for, powerful and torquey, but smooth overall, this engine was built to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. We have had a comprehensive service performed to ensure you're ready to hit the pavement from day one! For starters, we chucked in a new 12v battery to aid ignition, and this 4.7l is also fresh off an oil and filter service. The engine air filter was replaced and this street cruiser sails up to highway speeds in a snap. Toyota's legendary full time 4x4 is on full display if you need to venture off the beaten path, and low gearing can assist if you really become entrenched in tough terrain. Fully functional, and unparalleled in comfort, factory height adjustable suspension also offers dampening adjustment as well. We replaced the bushings in the rear upper and lower control arms to get the drivetrain in compliance, and this Cygnus offers a responsive ride, and steers and stops well to boot. The Yokohama Geolandars are knee deep in tread and pay dividends on long drives where traction and comfort take priority. It's hard to find any gripes with this 100 series, and aside from a slight seep at the oil pan you shan't worry about any major maintenance for miles to come.
