This 1999 Delica is ideal for families on the go, explorers who love to camp, and companies with a flair for unique marketing.

Exterior Overview

A cavernous cabin and a center locked 4WD are hard to find in any all-weather vehicle, but on a van, it is almost unheard of. This 1999 Delica is ideal for families on the go, explorers who love to camp, and companies with a flair for unique marketing. Set off by OEM refinished alloys, OEM rainguards, a spicy graphics package, factory optional electric passenger side step, and oversized factory foglamps, the Astoria Green over Legato Gray (G89/A37) paint is in fine shape. Fresh off a recent service, this turbodiesel wonder is turnkey and ready to rock, boasting a meager 107k verified and documented miles on the clock. Spacious, capable, reliable, and practical, this do-it-all Japanese Classic appeals to nearly everyone!

Interior Overview

Access to the cabin is made much easier thanks to functional OEM keyless entry. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal seating position, and both passengers up front have dual SRS airbags for some added peace of mind. A Kenwood headunit was swapped in overseas, and it sounds crisp and clear. Above is a digital automatic climate system that allows for easy adjustments, and the A/C and heat work like a charm. The rear occupants have their own climate controls and climate zone, as well. Power windows, electric locks, and power mirrors all work, too, improving daily usage. The light blue and gray textured upholstery is in above-average shape, and the same materials are used for the door cards. The middle row captain’s chairs swivel to face rearward and also slide fore and aft. The middle and rear rows can conveniently be combined into a sleeping surface. The headliner and door cards have resisted major abuse over the years, as have the carpets. The side door opens wide to swallow people and gear, and soft closes shut to prevent your battery from going flat. The flat loading floor is ideal for your cargo needs, and even the owner’s manuals are included with the purchase.

Mechanical Overview

Under the skin, this tough van is underpinned by Mitsubishi’s renowned SuperSelect 4WD system. It allows the pilot to switch between 2WD and 4WD on the fly, and includes a low range and center locker for situations where traction may be hard to find. The 4M40 engine is a resilient mill in its own right, and churns to life immediately courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter and engine air filter were installed as part of our comprehensive tune up, and we rehabbed the 2.8L with a new valve cover gasket. A stout automatic puts the power to the ground and shifts like a champ. We installed a new rear transfercase output seal to further shore up the driveline. It gets up to highway speeds with ease and is peppy from stop light to stoplight. The long wheelbase propley distributes road imperfections evenly, and we have improved the ride quality with four new KYB shocks. We replaced the front sway bar links as they rattled a touch, and the Delica passed its VA safety inspection with flying colors. The ABS brakes feel confident, and grip is handled by four new Toyo 28″ all-terrain tires we mounted and balanced here in the shop. Freshly aligned, they will last for tens of thousands of miles to come, and this hauler tracks straight as an arrow.
