Exterior Overview
We believe the J100 Land Cruiser is the next big thing, and we are investing in this model more than any other this year! Why, you ask? These rigs are easy to service, reliable, and seem to fly through the shop. The fact of the matter is that Toyota built these trucks to last, and this 55k verified and documented example is fresh off a comprehensive service which included a new timing belt and water pump. Besides the stout mechanicals, this White Pearl (057) VX Limited is also easy on the eyes. Optioned with plenty of desirable aesthetic add-ons such as the OEM spare tire swingarm, a hardshell cover and some OEM rainguards, the body is in good shape aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Upgraded with new Icon wheels and a jazzy polished Sorex tow receiver, this 1998 is truly complete. Safe, spacious, and refined SUVs like this one are bonafide Japanese Classics and can be daily driven and off-roaded thanks to their unmatched capability!
Interior Overview
The cabin is in wonderful shape and is accommodating and nicely optioned. Pilots of all sizes can find the ideal driving position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. Power folding mirrors, power locks, power windows, and cruise control all work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and easy to reach. A simple-to-use automatic climate system pumps in cold A/C and piping hot heat so that the cabin can be enjoyed year-round. Above, a flip-out Pioneer radio supplies tunes to supplement our road trip. The seats are comfortable and are upholstered in a soft tan cloth. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and were clearly cared for overseas. The rear passenger seats recline, split fold, and tumble forward to maximize the cargo area. The door cards, headliner, and carpets have withstood the past nearly 30 years without sustaining major abuse. That’s not to say the cabin is perfect, as we wanted to note that the moonroof and driver lumbar adjustment no longer operate and that the dashboard was refurbished to reduce some damage from UV exposure. Still, the cabin is in decent condition, and there is plenty of space for five adults!
Mechanical Overview
The ladder chassis construction is robust, and so is the 2UZ-FE V8. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L springs to life with the twist of the key thanks to a new 12v battery. It sounds great, courtesy of a new muffler, and a new engine air filter was installed to maximize power output. A new accessory belt will keep your electronics properly powered and won’t squeak or squeal, either. To ensure future fluid checks are stress-free, we replaced the weary old hood shocks with new ones that are able to support the weight of the bonnet. Best of all, one of our trained technicians performed the most expensive and important preventative maintenance services there is. A new timing belt and water pump were installed, and we exchanged the coolant for new stuff. This service will save the new owner loads of money, is good for ten years, and adds a bunch of peace of mind for those looking to hit the road for an immediate trip! The engine feels fresh as a daisy and is mated to a stout automatic gearbox. It shifts like it should and sends torque through a Full-Time 4WD system. A low range and center locker are on hand should you encounter any loose road surfaces. When on the tarmac, this heavyweight has no issues safely accelerating to highway merging speeds. The long wheelbase distributes road imperfections well, and the height-adjustable OEM suspension feels predictable and comfortable overall. New front lower ball joints were added before this rig aced its Virginia state safety inspection. When you need to reel in this large SUV from higher speeds, new rear brake pads assist in keeping stopping distances short, and ABS is standard equipment. The power steering is light, and this terrific Toyota tracks straight as an arrow. New 33″ Falken tires were mounted and balanced before it left the lift. Freshly aligned, the new rubber will last for tens of thousands of miles to come, and the new tires look all business! Turn-key and ready to rock, this clean, low-mileage Landy is one you won’t want to pass up!
