Stock #5997Subaru's jump into the new millennium came in 1998, and the BH5 Legacy carried the torch for the brand's latest and greatest offerings. Still boasting the brand's refined twin-turbocharged flat four and surefooted AWD, these wagons make for comfortable, sporty, and stylish daily commuters. Finished in Royal Silver Metallic (792), our 1998 Legacy GTB is quite the looker, sporting factory optional aero, OEM rainguards, adjustable xenon headlamps, a tasteful OEM rear spoiler, and 17" Degeo alloys. Save for some expected rock chips, scuffs and miscellaneous dings around the body the exterior isn't too worse for the wear and the 101k verified/documented miles on the chassis are well below average for a US market wagon of this vintage. A standout transporter that's poised inside and out, this Legacy is one of the nicest Japanese Classic wagons we've seen to date! The interior is trimmed in a durable union of leather and cloth and outside of being exceptionally comfortable, a full slate of power amenities make this one a prime candidate for daily use as well. As expected, power windows, locks, and power mirrors should be commonplace for 1998, and we're pleased to announce the power folding feature of the mirrors is operable as well. For children of the 90's and 2000's, the interior design should be familiar, although Japanese models received an updated digital climate control unit and a modern touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth functionality and crystal clear sound quality. Fortunately the A/C blows ice cold and hot heat is on tap if you need to trudge this one through a blizzard or two. The rear bench offers up ample room for hauling around a few extra passengers while also folding flat if extra cargo space is a priority. Dual SRS airbags are standard up front, and the captain can tilt the steering column at will to dial in the ideal driving position. All in all, the materials are in above average shape, from the headliner to the plush factory carpeting underneath, and we've even retained the factory carpeted floor mats and rubber trunk liner! The EJ206 excels in smooth operation, ease of service, and a deceptively quick powerband to boot! Ours is fresh off a comprehensive recent service by our trained technicians, starting with a new 12v battery which was also installed to properly test the alternator. A fresh oil and filter service was performed and new valve cover gaskets were done on both ends to prevent any unwanted leaks of lubricant. With the maintenance performed, this Legacy is a treat to drive and excels at anything from around-town sprints to longer highway journeys. The twin turbos provide a punchy yet predictable powerband and this EJ soars to redline without hesitation. A slick shifting automatic transmission throws the power down to all four wheels, and we've replaced a left front axle boot and right front lower ball joint as well as both inner and outer tie rods to bring the drivetrain up to compliance with Virginia State Safety Inspection. Aftermarket coilovers deliver a responsive ride, and new endlinks were installed in the rear to shore up the handling a bit. The ABS brakes chomp down hard, and fresh Falken rubber on all four corners provides the all-season grip needed to deliver plenty of grip, stopping power, and comfort for the road ahead!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
