The R34 Skyline is a special car for a lot of reasons. Beyond its appearance on the big screen and notoriety in video games and other mainstream media, it signified the end of an era for Japanese sports cars, as the R chassis platform would soon be ditched to propel the nameplate in a more luxurious direction. This 1998 GTT is as good as it gets before breaking into GTR territory. It's finished in an uncommon (1of 527) Dark Blue Pearl (BP9), is backed by a fan favorite turbo manual drivetrain, and it looks great with factory aero and 18" BBS LM alloys stealing the show. Save for a few exterior defects typical of a 25 year old car, and a prior repair on the right rear quarter panel, the cosmetics are no worse for the wear and the 78k miles on the clock do a lot to help this appreciating asset hold its value. Fast, fashionable, and fun, you can call the R34 a lot of things, but most importantly you'll want to call it your next Japanese Classic!
The interior is in great shape and is a huge step up from the dated cockpits that preceded it. Gearing up for the 21st century, Nissan outfitted the R34 with sport mesh upholstery, full power amenities, and a comfortable cockpit chock full of ample head and legroom. Save for a little discoloration from UV, the seats are in great shape and the driver also gains access to a tilt adjustable steering column for a more tailored fit. The dash is also in great shape, and houses dual SRS airbags for forward occupants. The center stack feels delightfully modern too, thanks to digital automatic climate control and a Kenwood audio system. Power windows, locks, and power folding mirrors all work like a charm and aid daily use tremendously. The rear seats can cram in additional passengers if needed, and it's clear this example was cared for in a prior life as the headliner, door card inserts, and carpets are all in good shape. We even retained the factory carpet mats, and if you can see past a bit of steering wheel wear and an inoperable OEM boost gauge, it's an ideal place to commute to your next Nissan meet or weekend cruise in.
The GTT's are performance bargains compared to the weighty and expensive GTR. A controversial opinion, we know, but we have the RB25DET NEO bolstered with a ton of good service and can confirm this thing rips! Touting a new timing belt and water pump service, you'll be covered for the next 100,000 km's easily, and we also threw in a new 12v battery to aid startups. An oil and filter service was performed too, and we installed fresh valve cover gaskets to keep all of your lubricant internal. A set of new spark plugs were installed across the board, and with the maintenance performed this 2.5 turbo zips up to highway speeds with haste thanks to NEO VVL technology. A factory optioned 5 speed manual gearbox allows you full control over the powerband, and power is thrown rearward, with a new wheel bearing on the left rear to keep the drivetrain in compliance. The Tein coilovers are comfortable and also aid performance driving when needed, and the ABS brakes stop on a dime every time. Further aiding traction, stopping power, and comfort, this Skyline sports new tires, which should keep you covered wherever your spirited drives may lead!
