Fast, collectible, and practical, the R34 Skyline might just be the best sports sedan out of Japan. This 1998 is a lovely example, finished in a timeless Pearl White (QT1). It comes with a bunch of pricy performance upgrades for those who enjoy the thrill of some spirited driving. This one is set off perfectly by an OEM GT-R front bumper and OEM GT-R Aluminum hood, stylish OEM rear spoiler, OEM rainguards, and some aggressive FRP side skirts and rear lip. While the front fenders were replaced in Japan at some point and there are a few light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use, this super saloon would still steal the show at a local Cars & Coffee. Fresh off a recent service, this manual, rear-driven, five-seater is turn-key ready to rock and boasts a mere 72k verified and documented miles. Perfect as a fun daily driver, spacious track day weapon, or unique weekend cruiser around with on the weekend, this Japanese Classic is the real deal and drives like it, too!
The cabin has aged much better than the R33 and R32 platforms, and feels incredibly modern. The driver benefits from a clear view of the road ahead and a sport gauge cluster resides above the center stack. Finding the ideal driving position is easy thanks to a tilt adjustable steering column, and power-folding mirrors, keyless entry, power locks, and power windows all work like a charm and make daily use more enjoyable. For night time driving the OEM adjustable Xenon lamps provide all the lumens necessary to carve up a poorly lit backroad! The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and both front occupants benefit from dual SRS airbags. OEM audio supplements the straight six soundtrack from under the hood, and the sound quality is decent for a vehicle of this age. The digital climate controls are adjacent, and easy to operate, the system can mix cold A/C and piping hot heat through the cabin. The black and gray upholstery is in above-average shape and lacks any major, rips, stains, or tears. The door cards, headliner, and carpets have also withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse. It even has the OEM carpet mats included for the next owner so that they can protect their investment.
This GTT is a spicy sedan, and it handles, brakes, and accelerates with the best of them. The RB25DET NEO is a heck of a mill, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. It whirls to life care of a new 12v battery and sets into a vibration-free idle. Air is channeled through an aftermarket intake before being funneled through a beefy Blitz front mount intercooler. The exhaust note is sublime, and sounds throatier thanks to an FGK catback exhaust system that frees up a couple of ponies. Like all of our turbocharged cars, one of our trained techs has replaced the fuel filter, pump, and sock to ensure proper fuel delivery. Originally this Nissan was an automatic, but a more desirable manual was swapped in overseas. Gearchanges are communicative and direct and the transmission lacks any cracking grinds or hitches. Torque is fed to the rear axle and acceleration is impressive. There is very little lag compared to older generations of the Skyline and the handling is just as good. Tein Flex Z coilovers reduce the fender gaps and allow this R34 to handle like it's on rails. The ABS brakes confidently reel in this beast from higher speeds and the power steering is direct and on point thanks to a new alignment. The CrossSpeed RS9 alloys set off the sport proportions perfectly. They are wrapped in tires that are knee-deep thread and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. Turn key and ready to roll, this practical and fun Skyline is a top tier Japanese Classic!
