This C35 could make for a perfect project, and it goes without saying the Laurel is a perfect representation of Nissan’s 4 Door Sports Car spirit. If you’re handy with a wrench, this could be an easy way to get into a killer right hand drive daily driver.

Exterior Overview

***This Nissan Laurel has a corroded fuel tank and is unable to pass VA state safety inspection. It runs and drives, but will need some mechanical attention to be fully roadworthy. You must bring a trailer to pick up this Laurel or have it shipped.

The C35 Nissan Laurel is a remarkably capable platform and a fantastic competitor against Japan’s other big-name sport sedans. Our 1998 is a fantastic candidate for a weekend project, as it is in need of a new fuel tank to pass inspection here in Virginia. In Club S trim, Nissan nailed this Laurel’s design, and this Japanese Classic is offered with 134k verified/documented miles. The cosmetics are no worse for the wear, and aside from clearcoat loss, a chipped mirror cap, and a few scuffs throughout, the Silver Metallic (KL0) paintwork is in decent shape. Interior Overview

The C35’s interior saw massive improvements over the fit and finish of the prior generation, and the cockpit is spacious, accommodating, and attractive. A sweeping low-profile dash spans the width of the cabin and the dashboard materials are all in good nick, with no cracking, sun fading, or other unwanted wear to be found. The patterned cloth seats show no rips, tears, burns, or significant bolster wear. The switchgear is clear and easy to read, and factory automatic HVAC features controls for your cold A/C and hot heat heat, ready to acclimate the cabin as you see fit.  The driver benefits from a classy woodgrain steering wheel, tilt/telescoping steering column, and dual airbags up front. Power amenities are abundant, and power windows, power folding mirrors, and power locks work flawlessly. The rear seats offer plenty of room for passengers of all sizes, and the trunk has more than enough space to transport goods during your day to day commute. Overall, it’s clear the previous owner cherished the condition of the interior, and aside from some discoloration on the carpets, and a non-operational volume control on the headunit it’s hard to complain. We even retained the original owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets!

Mechanical Overview

The RB20DE under the bonnet is a fan-favorite, equipped with NEO VVL technology and a slew of easy to service mechanicals. Ours is fresh off an oil and filter service and this I-6 cranks over with haste. Power is sent via a smooth shifting automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. The stock suspension is comfortable, the ABS brakes bite hard, and the factory mesh alloys are wrapped in good rubber. We did want to note the fuel tank has accrued some sludge, and so a replacement would be required.  This project is in good structural condition with no excessive corrosion, and is just a few fixes away from being a killer daily driver!
