In a market segment typically dominated by Toyota at our dealership, Nissan's Y33 fits in nicely as an affordable daily driver with above-average build quality and ultra smooth driving dynamics. Our 1998 Cedric is a fine example of the chassis, boasting revised facelift bodywork, shimmering White Pearl (QT1) paint, OEM rainguards and a fitting set of staggered VIP style 18" Wrest alloys. With few imperfections to note other than some expected chips and dings throughout the paintwork, this Cedric would be a fine daily cruiser or weekend Cars & Coffee standout, and with only 46k verified miles on the clock this one has plenty of life left for the road ahead as well. The Y33 platform truly does it all and looks good doing it, and for these reasons we're happy to call this Cedric a true Japanese Classic.
The interior boasts Nissan's factory luxury package, defined by plush leather seating surfaces and classy woodgrain accents. It's evident this one was cared for in a prior life, as the leatherwork on the powered front seats shows little to no damage at all and are devoid of any unwanted rips, stains or miscellaneous bolster wear. Additionally, the rest of the interior upholstery is in good nick, from the headliner to the carpets beneath. The sweeping dash has resisted any unwanted weather related distortion over the years and houses dual front and side SRS airbags for optimal safety for you and your passengers. We often champion the Y33 for its ease of use, and the accessibility of the center stack is no different. Within arm's reach, digital climate control works like a charm and rapidly pumps out cold A/C for those inevitable summer traffic jams on the way to the beach. Additionally, hot heat is on standby for when the months turn chilly. Adjacent to the HVAC, Carrozzeria audio is fully operational with MP3 functionality if you'd like to hook your phone up and soundtrack your drive. All four power windows unfurl with ease, alongside power locks, and even power folding mirrors. Ideal as a transporter, the rear bench can stuff in three additional passengers with ample room for luggage and groceries in the trunk. All in all, there's little to nitpick about the condition of this cabin. Even the factory optional aluminum kick plates are in great shape!
Nissan's VQ25DE shares it's bones with some of our readily available stateside engine options and is regarded for being exceptionally smooth, quiet, and easy to service on our US shores! Ours has the added benefit of a comprehensive service by our trained technicians, where we started off by installing a new 12v battery to aid ignition. Fresh serpentine belts across the board help drive your accessories without hesitation, and a new rear main seal was installed to ensure you're protected against any unwanted leaks or seeps from our fresh oil and filter service. As a bit of a tune up, a fresh engine air filter and fuel filter were installed to rid this VG of unwanted contaminants, and this one feels quite healthy in any condition, from around town sprints to longer highway road trips. The automatic transmission does a fine job at transferring power to the rear wheels, although we wanted to note a minor seep from the rear pinion seal for the next owner to address. The suspension feels adequate for a 25 year old vehicle, and the ABS brakes still bite down hard and engage confidently. Freshly installed on all four corners, new Nokian rubber grips well and should deliver a comfortable ride for tens of thousands of miles to come!
