Exterior Overview

A well sorted, unmolested S-Chassis is a thing of beauty, especially when it’s a 180SX Type R! Our 1998 has traveled a mere 121k miles and has the turbocharged, manual, rear-drive layout enthusiasts yearn for. Better yet, the Spark Silver (KL0) paintwork is fresh, and the OEM optional aero is in great condition. Save for a few small nicks and a prior replacement of the right rear quarter panel, the exterior aesthetic is A1, and Blitz coilovers and 16″ Impul FZ wheels provide a period-correct appeal. An iconic chassis that’s getting harder to find by the day, Nissan nuts go crazy for the 180SX. Interior Overview

Optioned with a clean and comfortable grey cloth interior, it’s evident this 180 was well cared for in a prior life, as the unique upholstery shows no major rips, stains, or other defects from daily use. Also uncommon, the dash is crack-free, and the vinyl material is still soft to the touch. New for ’96 an optional SRS airbag is present in the steering wheel, which should provide some extra peace of mind. Intuitive to operate and ideal for daily use, an automatic digital climate control screen is simple to navigate and cold A/C is ripe and ready to carry you through the remainder of summer. Adjacent to the HVAC, Kenwood audio is in good shape overall and oozes 90’s nostalgia. The remaining upholstery is in good nick, from the cloth inserts in the door cards to the headliner and carpets beneath. The rear seats are mostly for show, and they can also fold flat to create ample storage space in the hatch. This one owner cabin was clearly pampered in Japan and to help preserve its history we’ve retained the original carpet mats, and the factory spare!

Mechanical Overview

Ask any S13 junkie, the SR20DET under the bonnet is a formidable beast, and we’ve given this 2.0T the service needed for the road ahead. For starters, she cranks over swiftly, care of a new 12v battery, and settles into a smooth purr at idle. An oil and filter service was performed, and we changed out the fuel filter too, to keep any contaminants out of your petrol. An Apex’i exhaust brings some growl out of the four banger and we replaced all the drive belts to make sure it operates smoothly. It’s mated to a slick shifting manual gearbox, which throws power rearward and an factory optional LSD makes quick work of breaking the tires loose! Blitz Coilovers dial in the handling, and a fresh alignment was performed to keep this 180 tracking straight for the road ahead. The Impul wheels are wrapped in Fresh Falken rubber too, full of tread and oozing old-school appeal, this small wheel big tire setup should keep you planted to the road for tens of thousands of miles to come!
