Interior Overview

The cabin is in above-average shape and includes a number of upgrades, factory and aftermarket. The dashboard is in good shape and lacks any cracking or fading. Cabin access is made more seamless for all, as this truck includes working keyless entry. Dual SRS airbags are standard for those who might be safety-conscious. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. A Pionner radio upgrade was installed in Japan and looks more modern. The sound quality is decent, and it includes an auxiliary input for those who want to play music off their smart device. Above is the OEM Field Monitor, which delivers info about the outside conditions to those within the cockpit, should you lose cell service. Below the automatic climate control system resides. This Prado also includes OEM optional rear seat heating and cooling zones. The A/C blows cold, the heat hot, and when you prefer more natural ventilation, the windows all power down, the rear quarter glass pops outward, and a large power moonroof can tilt and retract. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering wheel and electric folding mirrors, and power locks. All these items work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. Mechanical Overview

Built atop a ladder frame, these Cruisers are a far cry from today’s tall sedans masquerading as sport utilities. They can take lots of abuse and offer superior capabilities when driving through sand, snow, gravel, and mud. The engine is almost as legendary as the Land Cruiser model itself. The 5VZ-FE under the bonnet is a workhorse and is fresh off an oil and filter service. It churns over immediately thanks to a new 12V battery. A proper tune-up is always a good idea, and we have swapped in six new spark plugs and replaced the engine air cleaner and fuel filter. So that the oil level remains full, we replaced the valve cover gaskets and installed new cam seals, which is a pesky job. The 3.4L runs right as rain and is linked to a stout automatic gearbox. Shifts feel reassured, and torque is funneled through a selectable transfer case to both axles. For trips up the traihead or a weekend on the beach, a low-range and center locker can be utilized. It gets up to highway merging speeds with ease, and this big brute can slow down quickly, with its standard ABS, and new front brake pads and rotors. It also steers well, and one of our trained techs has refreshed the entire system. The power steering rack was rebuilt, the fluid flushed, and new rack bushings were installed. The inner and outer tie rods were replaced during this service so we could dial in the right alignment, which we did! The OEM five-spoke wheels are wrapped in nearly new Goodyear all-terrain tires. The suspension is soft yet predictable and benefits from new rear upper and lower control arms. Turn key and ready to roll, this lovable J95 is ready to roll off the lot and into your garage!
