The Land Cruiser marque is synonymous with reliability, capability, and refinement. New for the 1998 model year, the 100 Series is a testament to Toyota's commitment to building a quality full-size SUV. This turbodiesel example is fresh off a recent service, and offered with 186k verified and documented miles. In diesel speak, this rig is barely broken in and boasts several upgrades and options. Finished in a Warm Silver Metallic (1B1) this lovable Landy is set off by an OME 3" lift, Mickey Thompson wheels, OEM rainguards, aftermarket fender flares, LED tail lamps, and a stylish rear spoiler. Collectible, cool, powerful, and efficient, these trusty Toyotas make wonderful family haulers, weekend getaway trucks, and daily drivers alike. Built to last, and determined never to quit, this timeless Japanese Classic is about as good as it gets!
The cabin is spacious, nicely equipped, and seems to have been cared for in a prior life. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and dual SRS front airbags are standard. The driver benefits from power windows, electric door locks, and power-folding mirrors make daily use more enjoyable. Digital automatic climate control is on hand to provide air conditioning and heat on demand, and if you prefer more natural ventilation, an aftermarket sunroof can be manually vented. The seats are in above-average shape and are trimmed in a soft tan cloth. The driver seat has adjustable lumber support and both fronts are heated. A Panasonic Strada touchscreen Bluetooth headunit pumps tunes into the cabin and the audio quality is decent, and an Alpine DVD player can keep your rear passengers occupied on a roadtrip. The carpets, headliner, and door cards are in good shape and there are plenty of storage options. The cargo area is massive and lacks any major damage. Overall the cabin appears to have been cared for in a prior life, and it really shows.
The body on frame underpinnings are a big reason why so many of these Cruisers are still on the road today. Unlike stateside vehicles, this one is equipped with the most desirable engine option! Powered by the gutsy 1HD-FTE six-cylinder, this sizable ute has tons of giddyup. The 24 valve 4.2L is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up with the twist of the key care of two new 12v batteries. An OEM block heater is on hand if you succumb to chilly winters as well! A new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of the diesel and one of our trained techs has refreshed the SOHC mill with a new valve cover gasket. The powerplant connects to a smooth shifting automatic to all four wheels through Toyota's Full-Time 4WD system. To get the power to the safely we replaced the old front inner CV boots with new ones. If the going gets tough, a low gear setting is available as is a center locking differential. While this rig is happy to trudge through sand, sleet, and snow we realize a majority of its life will be spent on the pavement. One of our trained techs replaced the front lower ball joints and also chucked in new Old Man EMU shocks to smooth out the ride. The ABS brakes feel confident and the power steering is light, yet on point. To complete the package, 35" All Terrain Falkens have been mounted and balanced and a fresh alignment was performed, too.
