The short-wheelbase Pajeros are not only stylish, but fun and capable, too. For those without scores of kids and an active lifestyle, this 1997 would be the perfect fit! Finished in a Munich Silver (A69), this special Mitsubishi is set off by a prized Ralliart spare tire cover, an OEM rear spoiler, factory bashbar, refinished OEM alloys, and set of factory rain guards. If those rare parts didn't get your heart pumping we're sure the special Recaro interior will! Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the body and paint are in good shape and this rig is fresh off a recent service. Powered by a trusty four banger sold widespread in the US, the mechanicals are easy to service and this SUV is offered with a mere 105k verified and documented miles on the clock. Whether you need a daily driver, a cool campsite companion, or just want a unique winter warrior, this Japanese Classic is the ticket.
The cabin is in good shape overall and was cared for in a previous life in Japan. The highlight of the cabin is the gray textured Recaro upholstery. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and are highly supportive and comfy on longer cruises. For taller passengers, the thigh bolsters extend and improve blood circulation. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and houses dual SRS front airbags for those who may be safety conscious. Front and center sits the OEM Field Monitor which displays outside conditions and looks downright cool, although the thermometer and compass are inoperable. An adjustable steering column, power windows, door locks, and keyless entry all make daily use more enjoyable. The digital climate control is intuitive to use and blows cold a/c and hot heat on demand. That's not to say that cabin is perfect as we did want to mention the side mirrors have to be manually adjusted, there is no head unit, and the passenger door card has some light delamination. On the positive side, the carpets are in decent condition, the headliner looks near mint and the cargo area lacks major damage, too.
For those who want to put some serious miles on a truck, this one would make sense for a bevy of reasons. The 4G64 was sold here in the US and not just under the hood of Mitsubishis. Therefore parts are readily available and can be had on the cheap! This 2.4L is fresh off a recent service and starts up with the twist of the key. Power is supplied from a brand new 12v battery which will deliver all the cold cranking amps you'll need, even in the dead of winter. A new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of the engine and the four-banger runs with less vibration than its competitor's four-cylinder mills. One of our trained techs fixed a rear cam seal leak and the 2400cc mill is ready to rock now. The 4G is linked to a smooth-shifting automatic transmission and a trick transfer case. One of Mitsubishi's best innovations of the 90's was SuperSelect 4WD. It allows the driver to shift between 2WD and 4WD on the fly, at speeds of up to 62 MPH. It even has a locking center differential in case a beach outing or some old fashion wheeling is in order! If you happen to be driving on snowy winter roads, this Pajero boasts anti-lock brakes. They have been improved with new pads up front and out back and slow down this tasty little ute in no time. The suspension is predictable and the short overhangs are ideal for off-road excursions. The power steering is light and on point and a fresh alignment was just performed. That means the new 31" Falkens will wear evenly and last for a good time to come.
