Stock #6243If you want to go anywhere, the Hilux Surf can take you. This gutty, turbodiesel platform is maneuverable, capable, and reliable. Its our best selling model as upgrades are plentiful and inexpensive, the no nonsense styling has universal appeal, and most of all its a riot to drive. This 1998 is more desirable than most, with its intercooled engine and one-off Tactical Black paint. Set off by a stylish rear spoiler, sport hood, chrome mirror caps, OEM rainguards, OEM rear tire swingarm, and 16" Weds Keeler wheels, this KZN185 is all business. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the paint is in good shape and this SSR-X is fresh off a recent service. Offered with only 107k verified and documented miles on the clock, this 4x4 is ready to drive off the lot. Ready for a weekend at the beach, scooping the kids up at soccer, or a daily commute to the office, this year-round Toyota is terrific and is a Japanese Classic to the core. The interior of the Surf is in good shape and includes a number of electric amenities, too. The tall and commanding ride height makes it easy to slide into the cabin and a keyless entry system is on hand should your hands be full of groceries. The driver benefits from an upgraded seat with adjustable lumbar support and a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. Dual SRS airbags are standard for those riding up front, the dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and the center stack includes controls for the digital automatic climate system and Eclipse audio. The former blows cold A/C and mixes piping hot heat within the cabin, and the latter belts out the tunes to go along with the turbodiesel powerplant under the hood . Power windows, electric locks, and power mirrors all work as advertised. The rear window also powers down for better ventilation. The seats are highly stylized with their blue and black cloth. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and break up the cabin colors nicely. The middle row tumbles forward to fold flat to maximize the cargo capacity and they also four way recline. The headliner and door cards are in good nick and aside from some flattening of the drivers seat bottom and some light carpet stains its hard to complain about the cabin. We always sort through the mechanicals on our Surfs, and as this is nearly a twin to our domestic 4Runners, parts quickly make their way to the dealership and can be had on the cheap. The 1KZ-TE under the hood is the biggest difference in comparison to our stateside models, and is one of Toyota's best ever diesel designs. This 3.0L churns to life promptly care of a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. To keep fuel economy and horsepower maximized, a new engine air filter and new fuel filter were installed as soon as it got on the lift. The four banger produces loads of low end grunt and feels healthy as a horse. Intercooled examples also run lower EGTs and may see around twenty more ponies than their base-model brethren. The diesel mill is linked to a stout automatic that shifts properly and is geared for sustained highway cruising. The driver can choose to rout power to the rear axle or send it to all four wheels through a selective transfercase. This can be done on the fly, and if ice, sand or snow stands in your way, a center locker and low range can be engaged. The suspension provides tons of ground clearance and is predictable and communicative for a truck. One of our trained techs has refreshed may of the components so that the new owner can hit the road immediately. These items include new front lower trailing arms, new rear upper trailing arms, and a fresh set of front lower balljoints. The power steering is light and predictable and new front stabilizer links were taken care of. The WEDS alloys are wrapped in new 31" Rubber at each corner and an alignment was performed to make sure the tires last and she drives straight as an arrow! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
