Stock #6179
Stock #6179Like horse and rider, the Miata manages to cultivate a relationship between the driver that just means more. The balanced platform, communicative steering and solid driveline create automotive nirvana. This 1998 is finished in a lovely Highlight Silver Metallic (18G) and is set off by lightweight 16X7 A-Tech Final Speed alloys. Aside from a few light dings and chips the paint is in good shape as is the black canvas ragtop. Fresh off a recent service, this 1.6L roadster is offered with a mere 67k verified and documented miles on the clock and this rear driver is barely broken! Perfect as a spirited daily driver, fun weekend cruiser or as an autocross weapon, this Japanese Classic is an all time great! We are impressed with the cabin condition and this NB was cared for in a prior life overseas. It is perhaps the lack of equipment that makes this specific example more enticing. Manual steering, no A/C, roll-down windows, manual locks, and hand-adjusted mirrors reduce weight and complexity. The black cloth lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. It even lacks fading which is a common issue for these MX5s. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and the driver benefits from an SRS airbag, for some added peace of mind. The controls for heat and the fan are close by and the adjacent Pioneer touchscreen nav/radio works like a charm. It even comes preloaded with a bunch of Japanese marching band tunes in case you want to jam out like the good old days when your parents sent you away to band camp. The door cards and carpets are in fine shape and even the OEM carpet mats are included with the purchase of this little Mazda! The NB was revised to feel more premium without losing the raw appeal of the original NA. The front-engine, rear-drive platform feel stable at higher speeds and is a superstar carving through the twisties. Power comes from the B6ZE four-banger. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the engine whirrs to life care of a new 12v battery and one of our trained techs has installed a new valve cover gasket to keep all the lubricant internal to the engine. A new fuel filter and set of spark plugs work to maximize fuel economy and horsepower and the 1.6L pulls hard to redline. Power is fed to the rear axle through a five-speed manual gearbox. Gear changes are direct and notchy and precise. Acceleration is peppy around town and this little drop top is great on the freeway too. The suspension is predictable and can handle the rigors of daily use and abuse. The brakes are tight and tidy and grip comes from four brand-new tires mounted at each corner. The steering is on point and communicative and perhaps the best part. A thoroughbred sportscar to the core, this Mazda Roadster is a killer overall value and is hard to beat. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
