Stock #6192****** This vehicle is being sold as a running and driving project with severe structural corrosion on the front subframe. The engine and drivetrain are in good mechanical condition although the radiator shows previous signs of repair and will need immediate replacement. This vehicle will not pass VA state inspection and as such you must bring a trailer to pick up this StepWgn or have it shipped to you.Honda had made all the inroads necessary by the late 90s to summit the peak of the US compact car market. The brand was known for building efficient and reliable sedans and coupes, but the burgeoning people movers like vans and SUVs were a growing segment that the brand wanted to target. Enter this CRV-based 1998 StepWgn. Finished in a classic Vogue Silver Metallic (NH-583M), this eight seater is set off by OEM rainguards and dark rear privacy tint. Due to structural corrosion on the front subframe, this 1998 will require a new engine cradle and some reconditioning to the subframe mounts. Still, the 76k verified and documented miles on the ticker should give you some solace that this StepWgn has a lot of life left in it, and the exterior condition is in fine shape overall, save for a few light chips and dings. For the home fabricator, Honda restoration wizard, or aspiring tinkerer, this is a great wholesale Japanese Classic at an even better price! The cabin is massive, with room for everyone and some flexible seating options. The dashboard is low lying providing a decent view of the road ahead. Dual airbags are standard and the climate controls are all at hand. The driver benefits from a tilt steering column, and power windows, door locks and power folding mirrors. These all function well and make daily use more enjoyable. Front and rear occupants have their own dedicated climate zones and the system blows piping hot heat and cold A/C through the cabin. The seats steal the show, upholstered in a patterned gray cloth. They lack any major rips, stains or tears and the middle row can swivel 180 degrees and features a deployable jump seat. The rear row can fold flat alongside the middle for a makeshift sleeping surface, and it can also stow atop the D Pillars to maximize cargo space. The headliner and door cards are in good nick as well and the carpets have been protected by OEM mats which are included in the sale. Aside from lacking audio, this van is in wonderful shape and was clearly cared for overseas. We even held onto the factory owner's manual to preserve the history of this lovely van!The mechanicals are splendid as the Hondas of this era featured legendary powerplants still cherished to this day. The B20 under the hood is fresh off an oil and filter service and turns over with the twist of the key thanks to a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter and engine air filter ensure it pulls strong to redline and maximizes MPG. Linked to an automatic gearbox, power is fed to the front wheels with no slips or hesitation. The struts are comfortable overall and the ride quality is good, and the power steering makes this compact van easy to maneuver. The ABS brakes work as you'd expect, and we wrapped the factory steelies in fresh all-season rubber. With a few repairs and TLC, this budget hauler would be an appealing buy for a Honda enthusiast or passionate DIY'er, and the drivetrain is easily one of the highlights of this wholesale deal!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
