Stock #6261
Stock #6261The Hilux Surf model is still going strong after four decades. This marque has staying power thanks to its rugged determination, reliability, ease of service, and handsome looks. This 1998 SSR-G is a special rig, set off by its factory tire swingarm, OEM rainguards, factory rear spoiler, and refinished alloys. Aside from a few chips, scuffs, and dings the one-off Miami White example is in good shape, and the V6 powered rig is fresh off recent service. Boasting a new timing belt, water pump, and 114k verified and documented miles on the clock, this terrific Toyota is turn-key and ready to roll. This certified Japanese Classic would make for a brilliant beach cruiser, adept daily driver, or cool campsite crawler. With an off-roading pedigree second to none, this practical pavement-pounding SUV is an all-around performer, and our best-selling vehicle for a bevy of reasons! The cabin is spacious, nicely appointed, and includes several power amenities. Both front occupants benefit from dual SRS front airbags and the sculpted dashboard is in good shape, lacking any cracking or distortion. The driver and passengers can gain entry to the cabin through keyless entry system and the driver can adjust the steering column to find the ideal driving position. Power folding mirrors and power locks make daily use more enjoyable and the digital automatic climate control can mix cold A/C and heat with the twist of a knob. If natural ventilation is preferred a large power moonroof can retract and tilt and the rear and side glass can be powered down at a moment's notice. The OEM audio functions properly and is loud enough to drown out the kids on a road trip. One of the coolest features, a drop down reverse mirror, can be deployed by a button on the center stack, and provides a view of any obstacles behind the back bumper. The seats are in good shape and the gray cloth lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The driver's bucket even includes adjustable lumbar support! The rear bench can 4-way recline and also can tumble forward to accommodate larger cargo. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse and the cabin appears to be remarkably well cared for overseas. That is not to say the cabin is perfect as we wanted to note the rear heater lines were deleted, which doesn't affect much. Many of our clients aren't enthusiasts, which may come as a surprise. They see a lot of value in Japanese Surfs compared to domestic 4Runners. You see, these JDM imports have many more features, are in better shape, and typically have much less mileage on the clock. We note this because if you aren't a wrench turner, this V6-powered example is identical to service as our Stateside models. Yes, this truck is powered by the same 5VZ-FE V6 as our domestic fleet! The 3.4L is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life care of a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter and engine air filter ensure top-tier power and fuel economy, and six new spark plugs were installed, too. The new owner should find some reassurance knowing that the most expensive preventative maintenance items were performed on this Ute. A new timing belt and water pump were installed by one of our trained technicians, and while we were in there, new cam seals and valve cover gaskets were replaced. Power is fed through a stout automatic transmission to the rear or both axles, depending on the driver's preference. The gearbox shifts properly and works as it should, and the same can be said for the selective transfercase. If snow clutters the road or a beach adventure is in order, the t-case has an integrated center locker and low range which can be enabled, allowing for momentum to trudge forward. This Toyota merges up to highway speeds with ease and is peppy about town. When called upon to reel in this truck from freeway speeds, the ABS brakes perform confidently and are bolstered by new front pads. The ride quality is above average, and new rear shocks were installed while up on the lift. We further refreshed the suspension with new rear upper and lower control arms, sway bar end links, and a right rear axle seal. Predictable and connected, dare we say this is a fun SUV to drive. The power steering is light and on point thanks to a fresh alignment, and we also installed new steering rack bushings to reduce play. All new Falken rubber was mounted and balanced at each corner. They quell road noise and most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come thanks to a fresh alignment.*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
