Interior Overview
The exterior styling is classic and timeless, but the interior feels decidedly modern, and on par with most Hilux Surfs we sell. This should be a welcome surprise for anyone looking to daily drive this pickup, as it’s packed with loads of power amenities and materials that feel a bit classier than our more utilitarian Hiluxes. The seats are upholstered in a multicolor “moon mist” cloth, and have resisted any major wear and tear apart from some light pilling on the driver’s side bolster. The dash cover follows suit in terms of condition, and Toyota even thought to bolster the N165 Hilux with dual front SRS airbags for added safety. In the center stack, automatic climate control sits front and center, and is intuitive to operate. Further aiding daily use, power windows, locks, and mirrors work well all the way around, in true Toyota fashion. A real-deal double cab truck, rear passengers can squeeze in with ease, making this the perfect rig to embark on a family trip to the beach. The headliner is clean, and the carpets have been protected by a choice set of multicolor OEM floor mats. Aside from a nonfunctional head unit, it’s really hard to complain about the cabin. Even the owner’s manual and original literature are on hand to add some history to this Hilux and make you feel good about the purchase!

Mechanical Overview
Every enthusiast wants a turbodiesel truck, and this Hilux is backed by a 2.4l that’s known to take a licking and keep on ticking. Fresh off a recent service, we’ve given this 2L-TE some beneficial maintenance for the road ahead, starting with a new 12v battery we dropped in to aid ignition. It’s fresh off an oil and filter service, and we replaced the fuel filter, as is standard procedure to keep contaminants out of your fresh diesel. We replaced some weary old serpentine belts with new units, and with the maintenance performed this four banger zips up to highway speeds with haste. An automatic gearbox benefits from new shifter bushings and puts the power to the ground reliably, at all four wheels. For the enthusiast looking to go off-road, the center differential can be locked, and low gear is on standby should you need it. To shore up the drivetrain, the front left axle was also replaced here in the shop. The stock suspension is impressive. It handles larger imperfections like any good truck should, yet feels comfortable and composed on pavement. To increase stability at our higher US speed limits, a new steering stabilizer bar was installed by us, too. The ABS brakes bite hard when called upon, and the gunmetal-colored alloys are wrapped in fresh Falken All Terrains. Handsome, functional, and chock full of grip, you’ll be covered on or off tarmac for tens of thousands of miles to come!
