Compared to what we were offered in the US, Japan's 1998 Honda Accord was a space-age hauler designed with style and utility in mind. Its striking styling is underpinned by a reliable Honda driveline, and this NightHawk Black Pearl (B-92P) five-seater is spacious and nicely optioned, too! Fresh off a recent service, this CF6 boasts a mere 55k verified and documented miles which is barely broken in by the brand standard. Aside from a few dings, scratches, scuffs, and chips, the paint is in fair shape and the body is set off by An OEM front and rear lip, factory midrise hatch spoiler, and factory rainguards and a sunroof deflector. As a daily driver, weekend cruiser, or unique hauler to tune or modify this Japanese Classic would be the perfect transporter!
The cabin is in wonderful shape and appears well cared for in it's prior life in Japan. The front occupants can rest assured knowing dual SRS airbags are on hand. The dashboard is in good shape and lacks any age or weather related warping or cracking. A sweet looking OEM navi/TV headunit can be used to pipe in the tunes and the functional digital automatic climate control unit is mounted above. Important on a black car such as this, the A/C and privacy tint are effective at reducing cabin temps this time of year, and the heat works as well for the winter ahead. For those who prefer more natural ventilation, the optional OEM sunroof combines with the Accords power windows to deliver more airflow through the cabin. Electric folding mirrors and power locks work like a charm as well, making daily use more enjoyable. The seats are in above average shape and are trimmed in a soft patterned grey cloth. They lack any major rips, stains or tears and are comfortable on longer cruises. The driver also benefits from a tilt adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have withstood the past twenty five years without sustaining major abuse and overall the interior really impresses, save for some typical wear on the touch points and distortion on the factory nav screen. We've even retained the factory owner's manual for the next owner to cherish and enjoy!
Honda's predictable and refined FWD platforms were the industry standard during the period. Powered by the trusty F23A, this Honda is fresh off an oil and filter service and turns over with the twist of a key. This VTEC-equipped mill benefits from a new valve cover gasket and it runs like a champ. Mated to a smooth-shifting automatic transmission power is fed to the front wheels. This wagon accelerates nicely and gets up to highway speeds without breaking a sweat. The suspension benefits from new inner and outer tie rods up front. The car goes where you point it but we wanted to note the factory electronic power steering has been disabled and converted to a manual system. That means it is hard to articulate from a dead stop and the steering is quite heavy when behind the wheel. A replacement EPS assembly is tough to find, and so we've priced the car accordingly. Additionally, due to the lack of power steering this vehicle was not able to pass VA state inspection and can not be driven off of our lot, it must be towed away. The Falken tires are brand new and will be able to deliver tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip for a long time to come. They also quiet down the road noise a good deal, and we've performed a fresh alignment on our rack to ensure the steering components keep this one tracking dead straight for the road ahead!
