Exterior Overview
The Celsior is an iconic design, developed to unseat the Germans at their own game. With time it has become obvious that the clear winner of this luxo-barge shootout was Toyota, as evidenced by how many of these UCF21s are on the road today, compared to the 7 and S-Class. This 1997 is a clean little unit, finished in a lovely Diamond White (051). Set off by a set of subtle OEM rainguards, the body is in good shape aside from some minor scrapes, dings, and chips associated with normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this cruiser is offered with a mere 45k verified and documented miles on the clock. For those in the know, this legendary V8 drivetrain is barely broken in, and has loads of life left in it. Spacious, safe, and smooth as butter, this Japanese Classic would make for a dependable daily driver or fun weekend road tripper. Affordable, easy to service, and luxurious, this terrific Toyota won’t last long.

Interior Overview
The interior is in above-average condition and features OEM leather seats and door cards, which are rare in Japan. The driver and passenger both benefit from dual front and side airbags and can find the ideal seating position thanks to the power adjustable chairs. An electric adjustable steering column is perfect for pilots of all sizes and power-folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows work in typical Toyota fashion. For long blasts down the interstate, the OEM cruise control functions and the original Toyota audio sounds crisp and clear. Very few squeaks or rattles filter into the cabin as this model is better sound insulated than most. The digital dual-zone climate control is intuitive to use, and blasts cold A/C and piping hot heat when called upon. For those living in colder climates, rest assured icy mornings are made easier by front heated seats. The headliner and door cards are in good nick and aside from a few light carpet stains and a nonfunctional power rear curtains, it’s hard to nitpick the cabin.

Mechanical Overview
The 1UZ-FE is an incredible V8 engine. It runs silently, makes decent power, and has a proven track record. This VVT-i version is fresh off an oil and filter service in the shop. A new engine air filter helps the 4.0L to breathe freely and the 1UZ pulls hard to redline. The 3969cc mill is linked to a sturdy automatic gearbox. Shifts are seamless and power is fed to the rear wheels, as it should be with any luxury sedan. Acceleration is impressive and the Celsior coasts up to highway speeds without breaking a sweat. The factory air suspension allows the driver to sail over large and small road imperfections. New front caster arm bushings were installed for state inspection purposes and this UCF drives like a dream. The ABS brakes slow down this heavyweight with ease and the power steering is light and on point. Grip is handled by four new all-season tires that were mounted and balanced before it left the shop. The new rubber quells road noise and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
