As if the Celsior wasn't good enough already, the designers at Toyota sought to improve the model for it's 1997 facelift. The nearly bulletproof V8 powerplant was revised to add variable valve timing, and an extra cog was added to the transmission for better fuel economy and performance. Finished in Ebony Teal Pearl (6N9), the paint on this UCF21 is in good nick aside from some light dings, chips, and scratches associated with normal use. The revised styling looks more modern, and this smooth-riding sedan is set off by OEM rainguards and optional gold emblems. It also touts a spacious interior, filled with creature comforts, safety features, and a bevy of electric amenities. Fresh off a recent service, this reliable and stout UCF21 Type C is offered with a mere 57k verified and documented miles, and is turn-key ready to cruise. For those looking for a supremely refined, dependable, and easy-to-service luxury sled, this Japanese Classic is it!

The interior is covered in options, the rarest of which being the factory leather. Not commonly ordered overseas, this Type C has it! Aside from the age-induced weathering, they lack any major rips, stains, or holes and were cared for in a prior life. The driver has a commanding view of the road ahead, and the dash design includes standard dual front SRS airbags. For the first time ever, dual-side airbags were added too for even more peace of mind and security on the road. The dashboard itself lacks any cracking or weather related fading. Electric equipment is everywhere, from the power front seats and steering column to the power folding side mirrors, electric door locks, and power windows. All these work as advertised in typical Toyota fashion. A touchscreen dual-zone climate control system and OEM audio setup work too, making daily use enjoyable. The A/C blows cold for the last few remaining days of summer and the heat is piping hot, as well. For winter use the front seats are heated, too. The carpets, headliner, and door cards have withstood the last 25 years without sustaining any major damage and we even have the OEM carpeted floor liners included in the sale!

The stout and sturdy platform is a dream to drive, with few squeaks and rattles to note. This vehicle is nearly silent at speed, as a luxury sedan should be, but it certainly isn't slow. Powered by a reworked version of the 1UZ-FE, this Celsior is fresh off an oil and filter service. A new 12v battery aids ignition, and should last for a few more years to come, providing all the CCAs needed to churn this 4.0L to life. To keep the V8 topped up on oil, new valve cover gaskets have been installed by one of our trained techs. Thermal management is handled by a new radiator, and the V8 is mated to a slick-shifting automatic transmission. The new VVTI system adds more pep, and the five-speed puts the power to the rear wheels in an efficient manner. The gearbox also benefits from a resealed pan to keep her running up and down the cogs properly. The end result of the additional gear is a model that accelerates much more responsively than the prior generation Celsior, and you certainly feel it in the seat of your pants. Sustained highway cruising is made even better with OEM cruise control and this five-seater is itching for a day trip right now! The suspension gobbles up potholes left and right and insulates the cabin from the road. To give the ride a slight refresh, new front tension rod bushings were taken care of while it was up on the lift. The brakes are confident, the power steering feather-light, and the factory alloy wheels are all wrapped in new tires at all corners, protecting your investment and giving you a road ready slab sure to deliver smiles for tens of thousands of miles to come.
