The GC8 is one of Subaru's most exhilarating chassis' to drive, remaining a fan favorite amongst the brand's enthusiasts to this day. It doesn't hurt that these first-generation WRXs are fast, reliable, and affordable, making them accessible to the everyday Subiephile. This 1996 "Version 2" WRX is a rally heritage icon and is offered with a mere 84k verified and documented miles. The exterior is finished in Subaru's iconic Sonic Blue (74F), undergoing a color change in Japan. The body is in good shape, aside from some light dings, chips, and paint bubbling in the lower left fender. Notable repairs in Japan do list a replacement hood and trunk, but that does little to take away from this Subaru's stellar looks. Rocking a set of OEM one-piece rainguards, OEM spats and rear bumper lips, a factory mid-rise wing and some proper gold Advan RG wheels, this fast little four-door is all business. This turn-key, rally-inspired sedan has seating for five, plenty of cabin space, and is fresh off a recent service. For the enthusiasts who value performance, practicality, and ease of ownership, this Japanese Classic surely won't disappoint.

The interior on this WRX has stood the test of time and follows the same ethos as the exterior. Comfortable, attractive, and well outfitted for performance driving. Overall, the stock black and gray seats look fantastic and are free of your typical stains and bolster damage. The door cards and headliner also show well, although we must note significant damage on the top of the driver's door card. The dash is in great condition with no cracks or notable sun damage and houses a simple to use automatic climate control system. Delivering hot heat and cold A/C on demand your sure to stay comfortable in any climate. The upgraded Kenwood audio system still functions as it should, providing crisp and clear sound throughout the cabin with AUX and phone inputs on the ready to play your favorite tunes. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors are all in good working order making daily use quite enjoyable. The steering wheel has been upgraded to a deep dish aftermarket unit and the driver even benefits from an adjustable steering column. It’s clear to us this WRX interior was designed to stand the test of time and overall the condition should satisfy most aspiring rally drivers. It even includes its original carpeted floor mats, owner’s manuals, and maintenance booklet!

The formula Subaru utilized for the WRX was simple, and there's a reason why it seldom changed throughout future Impreza generations. A potent 2.0L four-cylinder, symmetrical AWD, and a close-ratio five-speed manual work in unison to deliver plentiful grip in all conditions. The turbocharged EJ20G motor makes good power and easily cranks to life care of a fresh 12v battery. This flat four happily soars to higher RPM's, with gobs of down low torque on standby to propel you out of any tricky situation. With a new oil and filter service this four banger stays well lubricated and a new front main seal, rear main seal, cam seals ensure this boxer four will never sweat a drop. The EJ delivers all the sounds we’ve come to expect from the boxer engine thanks to the aftermarket catback exhaust, Blitz BOV and upgraded HKS intake filter. Our trained techs also installed a new timing belt and water pump while on our lift insuring the engine is ready for years of trouble free driving. Acceleration is swift thanks to the brand new turbocharger, and the five-speed manual transmission and brand new clutch make for effortless shifts. The brakes stop on a dime, and the legendary Subaru AWD tears up tarmac, dirt, snow, or whatever you throw at it. The factory struts are still in good order and the ride is firm yet compliant. The aftermarket front strut tower brace and Cusco lower center brace help keep the front-end rigid while cornering, and this GC does a great job of delivering go kart like handling in a capable 4 door package. Additionally, brand-new Falken tires have been mounted and balanced on all four corners delivering plenty of grip for tens of thousands of miles to come.
