Towards the tail end of the 1990's, Toyota pushed forth into the millennium with some of their most innovative designs yet. Unsurprisingly, the JZS161 Aristo was at the head of the pack, paving the way for the future of Japanese sport sedans. Our 1997 example is a fine unit, boasting just 84k verified/documented miles on the clock and a bulletproof 2JZ-GTE propelled drivetrain! The exterior is finished in Silver Metallic (199), and shows well, save for some expected stone chips, dings and other miscellaneous age related imperfections. OEM rainguards and a factory rear wing work in tandem to give this sedan a more sporty silhouette. With a set of 20" Weds Maverick alloys on all four corners and HKS coilovers closing up any unnecessary wheel gap, this one has the looks needed to turn many a head on our stateside highways and byways. Fresh off a recent service, this twin-turbo tourer is ready for a new lease on life stateside, all it needs is an eager new owner!

The interior is spacious, comfortable, and on par with most European luxury offerings of the time. Donning the desired factory sport cloth interior, the upholstery on this one is in overall good shape but does show some expected staining and peeling on the door cards from it's prior Japanese life. The dash is clean, resisting any cracks or UV damage over the past 25 years, and dual front and side SRS airbags are tucked away to give you and your passengers some peace of mind. Both driver and passenger benefit from power adjustable seating, and the driver gets a trick tilt and telescoping steering column as well. The center stack is finished in a carbon fiber overlay, which isn't too worse for the wear outside of some bubbling and distortion on the material. Housing a dual-zone automatic climate control unit, cold A/C and hot heat work as expected, and an aftermarket Carrozzeria audio system is on hand along with aftermarkets amps and speakers to boot! As expected from a gadget-rich sedan, power windows, locks, and power folding mirrors are all in good operation, and Toyota was smart enough to equip this one with a factory air purifier and factory trash bin as well! The rear seats are spacious and plush, and the trunk offers plenty of additional cargo space if errands or a road trip are in the cards. Overall, the interior is above average, and if you can see past some peeling on the custom a-pillar upholstery and door cards this Aristo is perfectly poised for daily driving. We've even retained the factory-carpeted floor mats to further protect this worthy JDM investment!

In addition to the rest of the vehicle, the powertrain was the last item to get a makeover from Toyota, and the 2JZ-GTE's VVT-i refresh allows for more top end power to carry you swiftly into the triple digits. Additionally, our trained technicians have performed the maintenance needed to make this one a fine rig for the road ahead. A new 12V battery helps this 2J crank over the first time, every time, and a fresh oil and filter service was performed to ensure you'll stay topped up on lubricant. A fresh engine air filter feeds the turbochargers and she rockets to highway speeds at the snap of a finger! We did want to note some light cam seal seepage, typical of 2J's of this vintage, and we have the vehicle priced accordingly for the next owner to budget for the repair. Shifts through the automatic transmission are smooth and predictable, and a selectable manual mode is at the ready for when the driver wants to command their own gear shifts. While the Aristo shines as a highway cruiser, the suspension has no problem staying planted during more demanding twists and turns, and an in-house replacement of the inner and outer 4 wheel steering arms ensures that you won't run into any surprises during rigorous drives, and we've had a fresh alignment done to get this one back into spec after the replacement. The brakes bite with confidence, and a freshly mounted set of Falken rubber will keep this bodacious barge riding smoothly for tens of thousands of miles to come!
