Subaru has always been ahead of the curve with their station wagons, and this BG5 Legacy is no different. Thanks to the inclusion of a fire-breathing 2.0L twin-turbo engine, they created a fast, refined, and reliable AWD wagon that enthusiasts could plan on using year round! Finished in a classic Aspen White (51E), this five-seater is adorned with a subtle set of OEM rainguards, rear privacy tint, and sporty six-spoke 16" alloys. Aside from some light dings, chips, and a prior replacement of the rear door in Japan, the paint is in good nick, and the vehicle shows quite nicely overall. Fresh off a recent service, this 1997 is offered with a mere 92k verified and documented miles, and is turn-key ready to rock. Equipped with a few choice factory and aftermarket upgrades, this nicely appointed and affordable Subaru won't last long. As a daily driver, family hauler, or inconspicuously unique sleeper this tasty estate is a certified Japanese Classic that won't last long.

The cabin is in above-average shape and was clearly taken care of well by its previous Japanese owner. This is evidenced by the OEM rubberized mats, owners manuals, and maintenance booklets which have all been saved and will be included in the purchase. Aside from a functional, and modern Carrozerria headunit upgrade, with US frequency compatability and Bluetooth, the interior is otherwise just as it left the production line. The dash is in good nick and houses dual front SRS airbags for some added peace of mind when behind the wheel. The driver can utilize an adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position and the seats are supremely comfortable. The perforated leather on the OEM Momo Steering wheel is in good shape, with no serious age related wear. The colorful cloth upholstery is soft to the touch and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The driver can cruise comfortably on long journeys thanks to an OEM option extended armrest, which makes for a bit of extra interior storage as well. Daily driving is a cinch thanks to a host of electric equipment. The power folding mirrors, electric door locks, power windows, and dual electric sunroofs all work like a charm! If you want to chill, the automatic digital climate control is located in the middle of the center stack. The A/C will make these last few dog days of summer manageable and rest assured the heat works as well. The door cards, headliner, and carpets are in good nick, and the damage-prone factory cup holders still open and close without a hitch. Aside from a cracked portion of the interior sunroof trim, it's truly difficult to nitpick this cabin.

The heart of this beast, the twin-turbo EJ20H, is a stout little boxer four. Fresh off an oil and filter service the 2.0L jolts to life care of a new 12v battery installed in our shop. The four-banger idles with confidence and is linked to a slick-shifting automatic gearbox. Power is fed to all four wheels through Subaru's patented symmetric AWD system and this wagon has some serious get-up and go! The Legacy cruises comfortably on the interstate thanks to its long wheelbase and the ride quality is decent for a vehicle half its age. The driveline has received a light refresh thanks to a new right inner and outer tie rod and she drives like a dream. The brakes are confident and ABS is on standby for those snowy days when this Subaru really gets to shine The power steering is nicely weighted and responsive. Lastly, we installed four new Falken all-season tires at all four corners. The new rubber has quieted down the road noise a fair amount, but most importantly will deliver tens of thousands of miles of premium year-round grip to come!
