Stock #5766Typically when considering a classic Japanese SUV, one must compromise on horsepower. It's a sacrifice many are willing to make, as Japan was engineering some of the best and most reliable 4x4 platforms the world has ever seen in the mid-90s. Luckily, Mitsubishi's GDI V6-equipped Pajero has no issues defying stereotypes, and models like our 1997 are fantastic on and off-road candidates for anyone looking to keep up with current models on our stateside highways. Finished in Royal Blue Pearl over Satellite Silver (T38/A69), the exterior on this one shows nicely, save for some expected light stone chips and dings. With only 49k verified/documented miles on the clock, this recently serviced rig is in above-average condition overall. Spruced up by OEM rainguards, a nifty parking pole, and a matching set of refinished Carbon Black 16" alloys, this delightful hauler is quite the head turner. Quick, capable, and well-appointed, the Pajero V6 is a Japanese Classic SUV like no other. The interior is just about as comfortable and cutting-edge as the rest of Mitsubishi's offerings of the time. Trimmed in a durable ivory cloth, the upholstery has held up remarkably well over the years, save for some expected age-related staining from normal day-to-day use. The dash and its trimmings are finished in black over tortoise, and fortunately the dash materials have resisted any serious cracking, peeling, or other miscellaneous UV distortion. The center stack houses a fully functional digital automatic climate control unit, ripe with Cold A/C and hot heat for those in cooler climates A Kenwood audio works as well, although you won't have much luck picking up standardized US radio stations. For those looking to haul a full squad of passengers, a third row is easily accessible and can stow away against the D pillars if additional cargo space is needed. Also aiding all passengers are a full suite of power windows, and power locks and power mirrors are at the driver's disposal as well. A power moonroof is operable but the motor is a bit slow, and we can't guarantee operation for much longer. As expected for a feature-heavy SUV, dual SRS airbags are standard and should provide some extra reassurance if things go awry on the road. Overall, the cabin was clearly well preserved in a prior life and should suit its next owner well, although the illumination on the compass appears to have given up the ghost. We've even retained the factory-carpeted floor mats, and a set of additional all-weather floor liners to prepare this cabin for whatever climate it encounters!Under the hood, Mitsubishi's 6G74 is a formidable mill, and fortunately shares many components with models offered here stateside, making parts sourcing and upkeep a walk in the park. Luckily, we've handled the initial maintenance so this one can be enjoyed right out of the box, replacing some key items often neglected in Japan. By far the biggest service performed was a fresh timing belt installed in house. On the Mitsu V6's this is no small ordeal, and the next owner should be fortunate we've taken care of the repair. Additionally, new spark plugs were installed across the board, and a new alternator keeps your accessories powered without hesitation. On a 25 year old vehicle, protection against contaminants is key, and we've installed a fresh fuel filter and performed an oil and filter service so you need not worry about lubrication. On throttle, this Pajero is a rocket and substantially quicker than any other SUV's we offer. The tiptronic transmission shifts smoothly up and down the gears, and Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD system is at the ready, allowing you to engage 4WD at speeds up to 60 MPH! For those looking to traverse this one off the beaten path, a center locking differential can be easily accessed if you become mired in the muck. The suspension offers ample ground clearance and the ride is surprisingly quiet and refined. The brakes bite hard thanks to new pads in the front, and ABS is at the ready if you need to slow yourself on loose surfaces. While all the above is great, this vehicle would have never performed on its old Japanese rubber, so we've wrapped the alloys in new Falken A/T tires to deliver plenty of grip to this turn-key Pajero for miles and miles to come!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
