1997 Nissan Datsun D22
The successor to the Nissan Datsun D21 is the Nissan Datsun D22, and its a whole lot more of a truck in our opinion. Larger, more capable, and better equipped, this quad cab ticks a bunch of boxes. This 1997 boasts a mere 106K verified and documented miles and is in good overall condition. The exterior is handsome and finished in Nissan's Blue over Gray two-tone which shows only minor imperfections like chips and dings from normal use. Equipped with roof racks, an optional OEM roll bar, rainguards, side steps, and tow hitch this pickup is as functional as it is cool and the next owner is sure to appreciate this certified Japanese classic.
Inside the spacious cabin, the well-cared-for interior is in great condition. The gray upholstered seats are soft to the touch and lack any major rips or stains along with the carpet and headliner. The dash is in good shape as well, lacking any cracks or major UV damage. OEM floor mats are included in the sale, which are hard to find. The automatic climate control blasts cold A/C or hot heat maintaining the cabin at a comfortable temperature for all passengers. To make daily driving more enjoyable power folding mirrors, eletcric locks, and power windows are on standby and work like a charm. The Sanyo headunit upgrade is in full working order, although unable to pick up most US frequencies. A backup camera was installed at some point overseas and displays a clear picture on the Sanyo headunit, making parking or hitching a trailer a breeze. For added safety, the leather steering wheel comes factory equipped with a SRS airbag system. Understandably, for those living in colder temperatures than others, it sucks to be out in the cold scraping ice off the wipers. Luckily this truck comes equipped with windshield wiper defrosters which prevent your wipers from freezing and gets rid of any ice that may have accumulated on them. This truck is sure to keep a smile on the next owner's face as it provides a comfortable and spacious ride for four passengers and plenty of useful utility for those weekend DIY projects.
The Nissan is powered by the bulletproof KA24E engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine is legendary and will last a lifetime. Although not a diesel or turbo, this gas-powered KA24 is peppy and has no issues accelerating when the pedal is pressed. For inclement weather a selectrive transfercase sends power to two or all four wheels. If you encounter any loose surfaces 4WD low can be engaged as well. The new spark plugs, spark plug wires, and new 12v battery that were installed allow the KA to start up quickly. When conducting maintenance on the truck a fresh oil and filter service was done and a new valve cover gasket was installed as well. The peace of mind that comes with owning this truck is the stateside parts availability as the engine was offered in several vehicles sold here in the US. Maintaining a comfortable yet rigid ride is the OEM suspension, which we went ahead and replaced the rear struts on. Four new tires were mounted and balanced which provide maximum grip and will last for years to come. It brakes confidently and goes exactly where you point it care of the factory power steering. Don't miss this great example of Nissan's affordable answer to the Hilux!
