Exterior Overview
Wheeling your Land Cruiser has always been fun, but in the past, these simple and durable SUVs weren’t known for their creature comforts. This 1997 is tremendously capable off the beaten path, but sailing down the highway and puttering about town feels like a much more luxurious affair than older Landy’s. Finished in a one-off Atlas Black, this rig is adorned by a set of 16″ Lodio Drive Dague alloys, OEM rainguards, and chrome mirror caps and door handles. The paint is in fine shape aside from some scuffs, chips, and scrapes and this TX model is fresh off a recent service. Boasting a new Ironman 4×4 lift and a bevy of maintenance services, this turnkey Prado is offered with only 120k verified and documented miles on the ticker. Powered by the same reliable 2.7L sold in the 4Runner, this hauler is easy to service and is renowned for its low cost of ownership and high resale value. Trustworthy enough to be your competent year-round daily driver, this truck can also pull double duty on the beach and would surely garner a loads of attention at the local Cars & Coffee. Safe, spacious, affordable, and handsome sport utilities don’t last long around our lot, so we suggest you move quickly on this Japanese Classic.

Mechanical Overview
Under the skin, this truck is essentially a 4Runner, which makes servicing easy as pie. The 3RZ-FE under the bonnet is fresh off an oil and filter service, and whirs to life quickly courtesy of a new 12v battery. It sounds great thanks to a new muffler, and we also replaced the engine air filter and fuel filter for good measure. The 2.7L pulls hard to redline and is linked to a stout automatic gearbox. It slots into gear tightly thanks to new shifter bushings, and to keep the transmission shifting as it should, we performed a fluid service when it was on the lift. The transfer case includes gearing for low range 4WD and also includes a center locking differential for when the road conditions do not want to comply. The Full-Time 4WD feels surefooted and the suspension has been completely refreshed by one of our trained technicians. A new 2″ Ironman 4×4 lift was installed, and this thing rides like a dream now. It tracks straight as an arrow, and the power steering benefits from a full steering rack rebuild. We also added new rack bushings and new inner and outer tie rods while we were in there. The brakes were improved with new discs and pads up front, and grip is handled by four new 33″ Falken tires. These aggressive all terrains match the aesthetic and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come, as we just performed an alignment.
