Stock #6343This 1997 Hilux Surf is a desirable midsize SUV. Spec'd with the top-tier powerplant, and underpinned by a determined 4WD system, this rig is also quite handsome. Finished in a lovely Desert Dune Metallic (1A5), this SSR-X is set off by refinished OEM black alloys, OEM rainguards, a prized factory rear spare tire swing arm, and some subtle privacy tint. Aside from a few light dings, chips, scuffs, and touch-ups, the paint is in fair shape and this Toyota is fresh off a recent service. Offered with a mere 140k verified and documented miles on the ticker, this intercooled, turbodiesel-equipped Surf is turn-key ready to roll. Safe, stylish, efficient, capable, and collectible, this Japanese Classic won't break the bank, and is a delight to drive on and off the beaten path! The cabin is in good shape and includes a number of power amenities and safety items. Dual SRS airbags are standard for this model. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading aside from some damage from a prior navigation mount installed in Japan. The automatic climate control is mounted in the center stack and doles out heat and cold A/C on demand. The JVC upgraded headunit below looks killer and pumps out the tunes enough to drown out the kids. The seats are upholstered in a tan and lack any major holes or stains. There is a tiny seam slit on the rear bench and the driver seat bottom is a tad worn, but nothing too crazy. The driver receives adjustable lumbar support and the rear bench has a 4-way recline feature so rear occupants can cruise in comfort. The bench also tumbles forward to create a flat loading floor. Power windows, locks, and mirrors all function in typical Toyota fashion making daily use more enjoyable. An OEM Field Monitor is mounted next to the functional power sunroof controls and displays information about the outside conditions to those within the cabin. The headliner and door cards have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse, and aside from some light carpet stains, there is little to complain about inside the vehicle. It even includes the Japanese owner's manuals and maintenance booklets! Built on the same platform as our domestic 4Runners, service items and upgrades are plentiful and inexpensive. The parts availability for the diesel engine is impressive and the 1KZ-TE is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life with the twist of a key. One of our trained techs installed a new valve cover gasket and a new fuel filter, too. The four-banger pulls strong all the way to redline, and the gearbox shifts properly and is fresh off a fluid exchange. For the fastest acceleration, 2WD is best, and when extra grip is required, 4WD can be utilized on the fly. For sand and snow use, this Surf is also equipped with a locking center differential. A new left rear axle seal allows the power to the ground properly. The suspension is predictable and can handle the rigors of daily use and abuse. New lower control arms were installed and we also improved the power steering with new rack bushings. The ABS brakes feel confident and the power steering is light, yet connected. The OEM 16" wheels are wrapped in new 31" Falken rubber. Freshly aligned this rig drives straight as an arrow and should keep you covered for tens of thousands of miles to come!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
