Stock #6311
Stock #6311Optioned with all the good stuff, this intercooled, turbodiesel Surf is what every die hard Toyota enthusiast desires. Finished in a classic Desert Dune Metallic (1A5), this 1997 SSR-X is set off by a tasteful set of 16" BERG alloys, an aggressive factory sport hood, an optional rear spoiler, OEM rainguards, OEM optional front valance, and some agressive privacy tint. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good nick and we wanted to note that the front fenders and hood were replaced at some time in Japan. No worse for the wear, this KZN185 is fresh off a recent service, and is offered with only 164k verified and documented miles on the clock. For those who know the legendary 1KZ-TE engine, that's barely broken in! Easy to service, frugal, and fast this Japanese Classic would make for a delightful daily driver or cool campsite companion. The cabin features decent ergonomics and plenty of power features to make daily driving a pleasure. The dash features a clean layout with standard dual front SRS airbags for those riding shotgun. These models are commonly plagued with dashboard distortion but this example lacks any of that. The center stack is within reach and includes controls for the automatic climate control system. A/C and heat can be mixed for those looking to drive year round and the upgraded Boss USDM Bluetooth headunit is happy to supply some tunes! The driver benefits from adjustable lumbar support and a tilt adjustable steering column. Power windows, locks and electric mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion. Even the rear window rolls down into the hatch to accommodate some 2x4s from Lowes. The headliner and door cards are in good shape and the tan upholstery lacks any major, rips, stains or tears. The middle row also reclines for better passenger comfort and it can tumble forward when additional cargo room is desired. Aside from some light carpet stains the cabin is in good shape and we feel the new buyer will agree. The intercooled 1KZ is a gem of an engine and this one is fresh off an oil and filter service. It churns to life with the twist of the key, and runs like a champ. A new fuel filter was installed, and one of our trained techs refreshed the four banger with a new valve cover gasket and half moon seals. The 3.0L is mated to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts properly and makes good use of the copious amounts of low end torque. The selective 4WD allows the driver to switch between 2WD and 4WD on the fly. For beach outings and trail driving, a low range can be accessed with the twin stick as can an optional center locker. The Hilux sails up to highway speeds with ease and cruising on the freeway is comfortable. If you need to jam on the brakes, the ABS system can reel in this SUV promptly thanks to new front pads and rotors. The ride quality is above average and we refreshed the suspension heavily for the new American owner. New Bilstein shocks were installed all around, and we also replaced the front lower ball joints, front control arms, and the rear lower trailing arms to dial in the handling. So we could properly align the platform, new inner and outer tie rods were installed and this rig drives straight as an arrow. The steering is nicely weighted and new front sway bar links and bushings smooth out the system. Grip is handled by four new Falken tires. Freshly mounted and balanced, they look killer and will provide tens of thousands of miles of grip for years to come! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
